Root hacking the droid

what are the benefits of hacking the droid, or what ever you call it... i know that one of them is that you can make it a wi-fi hotspot... is this right? and also, if you do it wrong, you can't restore your phone?

hm, i'm a noob at all of this, so the 2nd link can't really help me out.

what is a good 3rd party app/easy way to do this? i don't know much about the coding.

There is no apps to do this.The only way is the hard way and the second link has every way it can be done.

what do you think of this link: YouTube - How To Root Your HTC EVO in One Click. it is for the evo, but would it work for the aria as well? what are the chances of this failing?

on another note, i have a insurance-type plan for my phone from at&t, so if it were to break, do you think they would let me return it? or would i need to damage it?

It won't work because AT&T blocks your ability to install from unapproved sources. And if you can get around that, you really risk bricking your phone since this is for the EVO and hasn't been tested (to my knowledge) on the Aria.

If you want to root your Aria, use the link below. Download the ISO image and burn it to a CD. Boot from the CD and follow the instructions in the post. This is going to be the easiest way to root your phone.

It's how I rooted my Aria. It works very well... with little risk. (although there is always a risk associated with flashing).

ok, so i did it, and now i have an app. called superuser permissions. does this mean that i did this correctly?
