Help Sprint store to downgrade 2.2 to 2.1 for free?

The excerpted post confuses me. Any rooted user can go back to 2.1 at will. Just flash a 2.1 rooted ROM. Or restore a 2.1 nandroid backup. There should be no reason a rooted user should ever need Sprint's assistance in going back to 2.1, and yes, if that were possible, the phone will most likely be unrooted. The exception is if you've applied unrevoked4ever.

Going back to 2.1 would only interest people who either

1) cannot resolve issues with froyo after upgrading, OR
2) want to root

Next time I'm in my local sprint store, I will ask if they provide a downgrade (not degrade, lol) to 2.1. Whether it's paid or free is irrelevant, IMO. I only care if they have the technical ability to do the downgrade.

This. I'm going to call/drive there tomorrow and report back as to what they say.

Ive already called around to a few stores, and they had no idea what that site was saying and told me it couldnt be done. So I didnt dig any deeper, but I will soon.
The sprint reps in my area are rather unhelpful and and a bit dumb actually, so maybe I spoke to the wrong reps.
Let me know what you find out.

I will roll back to 2.1 I dont care about Rooting my phone.

But i do want pandora to play higher quality and i also want my google navigation to only pause my music and restart it like 2.1. In 2.2 when the lady tells you where to turn it stops your music and it never comes back on. You have to push "home", then go into your music app, start the music again and then go back into your nav app. By the time you do this she just stopped your music again.

I found my internet browser no faster with 2.2. And I dont really use flash video on my browser because its just too slow over my 3g connection. I lost more than i gained with upgrading to 2.2.

The first half of the new rooting procedure downgrades you to 2.1. If you don't want to root, you can stop right there :)

Doesn't matter anymore lol. I did the 2.2 root early, early this morning.

will have to agree with all the above, seems like Flash was the only big gain but not used enough by me to lose all the above. And I haven't heard any whispers of any the above being resolved. And not sure if it's a Froyo issue, but my Google contacts will not sync anymore.

From a stock (no rooting) point of view... there's very little incentive to downgrade to 2.1 again... you lose a stock multi-touch keyboard, a better browser, 10.1 flash, a smoother overall experience, and the JIT compiler...

All that for easier rooting access, to which rooting in 2.2 is now still 100% do-able. I'd rather keep mine 2.2, and I'm quite glad the dudes at our Sprint store updated my refurb when they gave it to me to 2.2 before I even had it in-hand.
