Was hoping someone either had a link or instructions on how to get wifi tethering enabled on the New ROOT that was just released.

Guess while I am at it, capture screen program would be nice too :)

New to the root world,

-Thanks in advance !

I use Shootme for screen capture and wireless tether app for wireless tethering. Both are only availabele for rooted phones, shootme is in the appmarket and tether is here android-wifi-tether - Project Hosting on Google Code

I believe you also need a modified kernel to fully unlock wifi tether. In my sig, I've linked to two very respectable kernels. Along with tethering, you automatically get:

--50+ FPS (all UI animations will scroll much more smoothly)
--much better touch sensitivity (scrolling screens track to your finger much better)
--3 or 5point touch (touchscreen recognizes that many points simultaneously)
--CPU throttling enabled(for better performance and/or save battery)
--HAVS (kernel dynamically optimizes both voltage and CPU usage - big battery saver)
--other stuff I can't think of right now.

Once you have flashed a custom kernel, you should download the tethering apps here:

wifi tethering:

wired tethering:

Don't use the stock Sprint tethering program. it won't work.

Oh that reminds me... since the wifi and wired tether apps aren't on the app market, you'll need to enable 3rd party app installs on your phone.

Settings > Applications > Unknown sources (check the box)

okay yes, I am rooted. Via the new Root that came out today. My phone gave me the option to upgrade to 2.2 also ... I dont remember reading anywhere, am i able to take this upgrade?

also, does custom kernel thing work with 2.2 ? Im asking these questions mainly cause this is the NEW root process that im working with.

Whoa, nellie!

Do not perform any OTA updates once rooted or you're back to having to re-work stuff.

Here's a roundup of all the roms you'll want - bookmark it, because if you stay with stock rooted, this is going to be the way to find your equivalent rooted update instead of a Sprint OTA (over the air).

HTC Supersonic/ROMs - XDA-Developers

I'm running the stock rooted rom, Android 2.2, and you can find that there if that's your preference.

Remember to notice that it's best to keep the radio and wimax in step with your rom.
