[ROM] Velocity V0.1.1 | LG Ally | Android 2.1 | ERE27 | Stable

So i had to restore my old ROM, after reflashing to the Velocity rom, I noticed that the boot logo was still the LG, and Verizon things, i though those had been removed. I tried flashing numerous times and they still are showing up. Were they always there on this rom, or is mine not flashing right?

LG and Verizon will still show up, It'll just show the Droid eye instead of "Android" thats the only thing that changes.

Yeah.. trying to figure out how to remove the Verizon part..

Anyways, just wanted to let you all know that I just received my Ally only 20 minutes ago and I'm already rooted, have ClockworkMod Recovery flashed, and am currently download Velocity 0.1.1 to see it for myself.

Let the fun begin.. ;)

I went ahead and decided to give this one a try. I like the new boot image (even though its a little lagged) and the droid sounds and wallpaper. But i could not get the gmail sync to work correctly even after wiping cache. Also when receiving a text sometimes the LED light would come on but not always and swype would not work with the rom. Something about being compatible (cant remember what the error was.)

Not a bad ROM in the least. I don't like the droid 'eye' on bootup or the droid sounds, but that's just me. It's sort of a shame that for now instead of getting completely reworked roms (or 2.2) we're just getting tweaked versions of the stock kernel. But this is the best one I've come across. Plus, with the release of the kernel source by LG, I'll bet that soon we'll be getting some real killer stuff down the road, and most likely 2.2.

Of course, I've only come across four in total..

Oh, by the way, I don't think apps2sd is enabled, and swap might be disabled as well. Could you possibly enable those two features for the next Velocity release?

From my understanding, the lg and verizon logos are located in splash1 and splash2 in the NAND.

Some info here. They need to be installed with fastboot. Though the ally may be different.

If you don't mind me asking, where is the location of the Android/Droid boot splash?

My gmail works fine and so does swype. You may have the wrong version of swype. Search google for swype for ally, its either the first or second link.

I tried this rom and it works pretty good. I am new to the process of flashing new roms from rom manager. I was just going to do the change-over to this rom in steps and when it asked to backup current rom and wipe, I only selected backup. (I thought it would backup and go back to menu) but it went right into the install/flash of this rom. All of my apps and information remained to include my background image after this rom was installed. Is this how it is normally?

I thought when installing a new rom it would over-write all of my stuff in the phone and be like a fresh phone. Or is it the wipe cache setting that does that? Needless to say everything seems to work. Wierd.

Wipe cache and data is the option and you should do it before flashing a rom to make sure everything runs smoothly. I personally back up all of my apps using appbrain from the market. Once I flashed velocity that's the first thing I downloaded and it made me login to my appbrain account and had all of my apps ready to download/install.
