Honestly, probably not. I've had many troubles with the phone (mostly related to the battery and camera), and after several phones / batteries (doing everything right, no task killers, not rooted, etc) I still have pretty lousy battery life.

In all honesty, my experience with the EVO has not been very reliable.

Maybe find a friend that can set it up better for you... sounds like your settings are the issue.

I recommend the EVO all the time. But really I don't need to recommend it, just pull it out and it recommends itself. Everytime people see my phone their mouths drop. Some ask, what kind of phone is that? Others say, is that the new Sprint phone? Wow! I hear all the time. As far as battery life you just have to know your phone. It has taken me some time to adjust it but I have it where I need it. It's not the same for everyone.

no problems with mine.

i would say, all new android phone users should get a 15 minute class on battery conservation tho

Huh? Why? Just because the Incredible and Evo get terrible battery life doesn't mean all Android phones do. People should not have to resort to tricks to make it through the day on their Android Phone. iPhone users certainly don't need to.

So I state a fact but you assume I'm riled up? Lol, I have real life responsibilities that can do that for me, not some post from someone on the internets.

I would say the battery doesn't suck, its the user that sucks. You control the phone, thus you control the usage of the battery. If my battery in my car kept running down because I like to leave my lights on then the battery nor the car is the problem, its the user.

What the heck do you know about tricks? My battery tweaks thread isn't tricks for one, that's why its referred to as tweaks: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-tips-tricks/150799-battery-tweaks-htc-evo-4g.html

Secondly, you are another newbie who doesn't know what they are talking about. HTC sends out the EVO with all the bells and whistles (apps/functions) on the phone turned to ON. About 90% of the bells and whistles that are turned on people do not utilize at all or on a daily basis. For example: News, Stocks, Weather, News & Weather, and Sprint Zone.

If HTC sent their phones out without the bells and whistles turned on. Some people would not have enough common sense to read the EVO's user manual let alone to turn those bells and whistles ON. HTC figured customers would have the brains to DISABLE apps on the EVO they do not utilize. But I guess they underestimated the IQ level of A LOT of smartphone buyers like yourself.

Once again, stop saying the battery on the phone is the problem. I DON'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM and my EVO can sit idle longer than an iPhone 4. You cannot compare what the iPhone 4 does compared to the EVO. The iphone 4 DOESN'T DO TRUE multitasking which consumes battery power. The iPhone 4 DOESN'T RUN FLASH in the browser. That consumes battery power. If you took these features away from the EVO you would be stuck with a useless iPhone 4.

Android gives people the option to do what they want with their phone. If you want to kill your battery every single night by surfing the internet on your EVO then so be it. That's what I love to do when I get home from work. I don't need to use my laptop of which I can only surf unplugged for 2hrs and 30 minutes. I jump on my EVO for over 6 1/2 hours and surf unplugged. Or I can keep the EVO plugged in like I do my laptop.

All I know is that when I jump on a plane and break out the kickstand, people ask me is that the EVO? I'm playing an animated wallpaper game, listening to music or videos all at the same time. Did I mention I sending text messages too? EVO CAN...iPhone 4 CAN'T

I love my EVO, but I have read everything I could get my hands on about preserving battery life and am doing all of it. I still can't get 8 hours of life out of it. My son wants to know whether to get one and I told him to give me a little longer to figure out how to conquer the battery problem. He works in an environment where he will not be able to charge during the day. He really needs to get 12 full hours from his phone, and that's not happening with the EVO as far as I can tell so far.

True. If it were the iPhone you would not be reading the complaints about battery life and build quality.

This is not true,Iphone users have their complaints as well and yes believe it or not some are battery and built issues, funny how program folks are when it comes to the iphone always trying to put another device or comparing this and that to the iphone when the iphone have problems just like any other phone.

I just said NO although I really like my EVO.

One reason for the no is that I need to be able to sync to Outlook on my computer, and HTC sync just doesn't work. HTC escalated my support ticket to another level where apparently no one exists (they never contacted me and after three weeks it's probably not worth trying them again)

Another reason for the NO is there isn't a good attendance program like I have been using on my iPod. I was hoping to get a device (without having to get an iPhone) that would enable me to only carry ONE thing around. But I'm back to the iPod and phone again

And the last reason is a lack of good databases. I used to use Filemaker on my Palm and there's hope here with HanDBase hopefully coming out in September.

Summary -- Android just doesn't have the apps yet for my needs.

There are other phones? Seriously, I'm a long time Crackberry user and honestly I didn't know what I was missing. My job issues Blackberries and iPhones but after allowing the IT guys to play with my Evo for a day they are trying to convince the brass to shift to the Evo. There are about 50 people at work that have the Evo and we are the envy of the site. The Evos handle email (the sync to company email was seemless), Excel, Word and PowerPoint better than our Blackberries. With the 2.2 upgrade screens transition smoothly. We have a wireless campus that the Evo connected to within a minute and stayed connected even where the iPhones lose connection. Personally for me this phone is great and gets better each day with new/upgraded software and the promise of 4G. The iPhone users rattle off their perceived advantages but when it comes down to it, you don't have to brag if you know you have the better product.

When people tell me their phone don't last a day either A: They don't know what they are doing or talking about. B: They have a bad battery. Or C: They downloaded something that's causing the problem on their phone.
