So I'm looking into getting an android phone (probably either the Galaxy S or the upcoming desire HD) and in the UK T-Mobile do a nice deal where android phones get 3gb limit, most other places do 1gb at most.

Thing is I can probably get a cheaper/better deal at Vodafone (I get a discount) but is 1gb enough or should I go for T-mobile? I imagine I would be a fairly heavy internet user.

How much do you guys use on average?

I'm not voting, because I can't tell you what is enough for you.

I can tell you, because I use an app called "3g Watchdog" that on 8/28 I have currently used 1.25gb. And that is with my phone set up to connect to WIFI whenever it's in range (at home, my parents, starbucks, 2nd job one day a week). In addition to that, while i'm at the FT job 5 days a week, I tether quite often, for Facebook mostly.

You need to decide what you will use, we can't decide for you brotha!

The poll was meant to be asking "would it enough for you?".
I know that everyone's usage may vary, but I was hoping seeing how much other people use may give me some idea. I've never had a smartphone before so I don't really have anything to go on other than how much other people use. Thanks for your info anyway.

I just checked last month's usage, I have 3 Droids on my plan:

I used 749 MB
My sister used 309 MB
My son used 3 GB

My sister obviously is a light user while my son is a heavy user. He has no other internet available (for the most part) and no wifi so uses his phone for everything. I tend to use my laptop more than my phone when I'm home for internet/email/Facebook etc. but use my phone while at work and when I'm out and about.

On my BlackBerry I routinely use 2.5 - 3GB per month, and BlackBerrys are notoriously stingy with data. Email, Wall Street Journal mobile reader, Viigo RSS feed reader, and things like Twitter/Facebook all use data. Web browsing uses data, and GPS too. Android devices in general are designed for a full online/multimedia experience and are not generally going to conserve data.
