Phone or battery problem?

Today I thought id try removing the calendar widget from the home screen (I heard somewhere that it was a battery pig) and that seemed to give me more battery today. I made it threw a work day with just enough left to get me home :: YaY ::. It still doesn't mean that I can keep the phone, but its one step closer to getting some real results. I keep the phone on 2G when I'm not using it, but it feels like I'm accommodating the phone, not the other way around >.>;. Times running out before I own this phone for two years and I want to be happy with it for that time :: prays :: hopefully well figure out how to fix its shortcomings.

Interesting that so many people are having so much issue with the battery life. I've got GPS on, Wifi & Bluetooth off and Data Syncing on. With nominal usage (calling, checking time/weather, browsing market/dolphin) I can easily go from 6am - 8pm without the battery getting dreadfully low. I only really have Wifi on at home and while it seems to drain the battery slightly moreso than when it's off, it's also nothing I'm noticing being bad.

The only time I really see my battery drain that fast is when I'm playing a lot of Bonsai Blast, but outside of that, mine seems to be running well.

Tikiral,

"I can easily go from 6am - 8pm without the battery getting dreadfully low"

I still feel this is unacceptable for a PHONE. I love my behold 2 its a great everything device and understand that to do everything it will need juice to do it. but coming straight off the charger and going back to the charger in 14 hours with minimal use is US working around technology, not technology working around us.

Do we think we will get a patch for these random programs running down the juice or do we think samsung will skip it and just give us 2.0 before CHRISTMAS holiday?

you should do, as kam said the only differences really between this and a galaxy is the ram hardware wise so it has to be a few factors
1. dodgy batteries being shipped with the device
2. software issues

galaxy had issues with software aswell but it got much better. i reckon youll get an update that will fix this power issue if its not battery related

Seems that Samsung agrees with you.

I assume that since the formatting was wonky that they used a Canned response and added specific items relating to my original email.

I think there's 2 issues going on 1st is the issues with the software with the programs randomly appearing in the background. the 2nd (and this won't pertain to everyone) a batch of bad batteries got shipped out.

I'm gonna power cycle my Battery again 1 more time and hope that it'll charge properly if not I'll give a call to them.

Side note: Doesn't the screen say "Fully charged" when It's done. Mine keeps saying "Charging 100%"

I am pretty sure I found the problem on my phone. The battery dropped steadily and quickly all day no matter what I tried. I then figured out one of the last things I did on my replacement phone was to enable a phone lock with a pattern for the unlock.

I turned off the pattern lock and let the phone sit for 1/2 hour and the battery stayed at 27% the whole time. Before that I pretty consistanly lost about %6 of bettery for each 1/2 hour.

I will know better in about 24 hours but it looks very promising and does explain why not everybody is seeing it.

today is a test for me not normal use;

Ok my phone came off the charger fully charged @ 7:30am
it is now 11:57am i have only sent two text msg GPS is on (forgot to turn it off) brightness is at 3.
my battery status says 72%.

this is worrisome cause normal use for me by 12pm lunch would be about 15 texts, 5 phone calls.

I am also doing a test today. I charged the phone completely overnight, and I restarted the phone before i unplugged it from the charger. This way, Spare Parts can tell me exactly how long the phone has been on. I currently have 3G, Wifi, Background Data, and Auto Sync turned off. Every once-in-a-while I wake up the phone just to check TasKiller.

This in itself is interesting, because Spare Parts and TasKiller contradict one-another. As it's been mentioned before, the Behold 2 seems to randomly open applications, as shown by TasKiller, but, and I don't know why this is, Spare Parts doesn't report any of those randomly activated applications as ever being opened. Could it be that this is only an error with TasKiller, that it is showing that these programs are open when they aren't?

Back to the battery issue. Today I've made/received no calls, sent/received about 10 texts, surfed the internet for 70 minutes, and played games for about 30 minutes (although Spare Parts is telling me its over 1011 minutes??), and currently my battery has a charge of 64%. This is after 8 hours and 54 minutes of use.

Update!!!!

it is now 4:40 and since 12pm i have sent 1 text, 1 Gmail email, read a few facebook coments and uploaded 1 photo to my facebook page. Showed the advanced task killer quirk to a friend that has a G1. for this test since lunch ignored 7 calls and didnt read 11 txts. still havent turned off GPS.

at this moment i have 51% battery life.

lets see if i make it home tonight? i am going out to dinner right after work which will mean many short calls to and from the dinner friends to organize this. and a little showing off the phone to them when i get there. then a quick stop at the gym for 45 minutes on the treadmill i will run pandora while jogging.

bets on if the phone will die before i get home around 10pm?

I noticed when I leave mine plugged in for a long time (like over night) it stops charging when it reaches 100% and then appears to drop back to 95%. I am guessing when it hits 100% is shuts off charging and lets it discharge a bit. Not a big deal but kind of a bummer since this phone crushes the battery in about 5 hours of "normal" use and every bit helps.

Update.....

ok after work made the phone calls, showed off the phone at dinner, replied to txts and facebook msgs. (skipped the gym was buzzed) so no pandora music. but did some web surfing on the way home.

by 11pm i had 17% left.

so in about 16 hours i used 83% of my battery.

today took it of the charger @ 7:30 put it only on 2G turned off notifications and gps brightness all the way down, only thing i did on the phone was check my calendar while in a meeting...its 10:15 and i am down to 83%

i know its a "Smart" phone but i would think i could go 2 days with moderate use? people with blackberrys dont have this problem.

Culo, I think me you and dcam have Bad Batteries. If rone's phone does indeed say "Fully Charged" then there is a problem with the Battery or the phone's charging ability. My guess is the Battery. I'm gonna Call Samsung Tech later today and see what can be done. But in the mean time I need more people to confirm the 100% (charging) vs Fully Charged messages. We need more Evidence to submit.

Mine has never said "Fully Charged" after 8 hours of charging it will say "Charging 100%".

Gotcha I mentioned you possibly had a Bad Battery. Your symptoms are exactly like mine. It get's to 100% and then if I do a Quick unplug & plug it shows 95%. It seems there was probably a bad batch of Batteries. If I had a Known GOOD Battery available to me I could isolate if it's the Phone or the Battery. Waiting on my Wife's G1 to finish Recharging so I can get a Reference.

Edit: OK I looked @ my Wife's G1 and it's supposed to say "Charged" not "Fully Charged"
