I like the battery life on my D2, I use FB and surf the web allot during the day as well as normal calling and text msging and it seems to give me 2 days with light use and with heavy use I'd say about a day. I will say using the Nav will drain your battery very quickly so keep it on the car charger when using that. My girlfriend has the D1 and we can't tell a difference in battery life.

Battery life is one of those things that for some reason after all this time of having such high powered smartphones in the industry, just shocks people. I mean really shocks. Consumers get a smartphone, use it all day and say to themselves "Wow. This phone sucks. I can't get a freaking day out of it!" not even realizing it's not their phone, it's just the fact that battery technology hasn't caught up with us yet. So nomatter what phone you get, it's gonna have shitty battery life when you use it 10x more than your old flippy

/rant

Sorry. I was in the moment and the moment said rant. But really, the battery in this phone is just okay. The great part is how 2.2 and this phone manages power. I have mine on "night time saver", so during the day my phone is normal, but when it's whatever time "night" is, it goes into a lower powered state. Not syncing as much, gathering as much data, using as much screen. Stuff like that. It's pretty cool. So battery? The capacity is just okay. But the way this phone manages it makes it last a surprisingly longer time than my old eris. Woke up this morning with a full charge, used it for mostly web browsing (and battery hungry flash videos) and by about 3pm had a 50% charge. I use my phone to ignore my annoying girlfriend, so i use it alot. Seriously, i could write a testimonial about how little i've actually listened to her since i've gotten the phone. ALOT.

I bought a spare battery at verizon today so i'll always have a backup, but if you don't have a chatty girlfriend, you should be okay

I hear what you're saying. I had an iPhone and was happy to get a day out of it. And you are correct...most smart phones do drain battery life very quickly. My dad and I were talking about that last week about how blackberry phones last forever and any smartphone stinks. It does more and takes more energy from the battery so that actually makes sense.

I do have to say that the Droid X is setting the new standards in this area, though. I was looking into the Droid 2 for a friend so was wondering if it was comparable to that or not? I've found I'm not happy unless I get about 18 hours out of my X battery...it's spoiled me lol

I recommend charging it more. This is my 3rd smartphone they can do an awful lot, so of course if you use it to its full potential or just enjoy playing with it, the battery life will suck.

The USB cable charges it on your PC, you can plug the USB charger into the wall overnight, and you can get a $15 car charger and charge it on the go.

What I did was getting the desk stand for my Droid and have it next to my bed. I go to bed and put the phone in the stand for charging regardless of battery left. In the morning I take it out wfresh with lots of juice.

If you prefer charging the phone at your desk, put the desk stand on your desk and it will be an easy way to put it for charging too.

Found one down side to the extended battery. Droid 2 no longer fits in the dock : (

Which dock are you using? The original Droid 1 dock or the Droid 2 Dock (Multimedia Dock XT)? Only reason I'm asking is because I use the XT dock and even with the extended battery on it fits nice and snug into the dock. I was curious though as to if with the extended battery, it still fit into the original Droid 1 dock.

The Droid X's battery life is awesome, so you are spoiled. As for the D2 its pretty comparable.

Its compares very well...the Droid 2 should have better battery life. It has a higher rated talk and standby time. The talk time is higher by 1hr 40 min. And this is with the Droid 2 shipping with a smaller battery.

I love the battery life on the X. So for the Droid 2 to be rated higher with a smaller battery is amazing.
