so i rooted my evo to 2.2, im guessing that i need to find a good kernal to install? id also like a way to put swype and skype on my phone anyone know of a way?

also is there a list of apps that i can run now that i am rooted?

how do i uninstall the stuff that comes default. like the bloatware and what not?

is there a free SNES emulator for rooted phones?

If don't want the sprint bloatware u can flash any custom rom that u like along with a Kernel of ur choice. Other than a Cyanogen Kernel u can flash any Kernel with any combination ROM of your choice except from Cyanogen, some Kernels require a series of reboots to work fine, now if u get to many bootloops and or reboots I suggest that u move on to different Kernel. Always, always make a nandroid of ur current stable set up before u flash any Kernel or ROM just in case something goes wrong u can always go back to the state u were before flashing.

Yes there is a free SNES Emulator call SNESOID u can get it from the market as far swype and Skype I don't use any of those apps so I will say Google it I'm sure u'll find a link to download them.

For the bloatware part,

you can just download Titanium Backup (rooted app) and uninstall them by choice. (One at a time) as well as any other unnecessary apps.

ok so, is there an app that lets me restrict other apps from opening themselves and running in the back ground? or is that something that a custom rom has added onto it? what are the main features that you can find in a rom that the stock android stuff dosent offer?

is there a list of stock files that are safe to delete off the 2.2 frame? (all the weather crap?, sprint tv?)

also what is an apk file? is there a thread explaining them?

ok so i found the way to make a nandroid. but where are those backups saved? to the phones memory or to the sd card?

also what do i have to keep on the sd card after i root my phone? do i have to keep the pc36img on the sd? unforever-revoked? im just not sure where to go from here.

.Apk is just an application format.

Nanroid backups are saved to the nanroid folder on your sdcard (makes it automatically)

Just install RM and it gives u the option to install Clockworkmod as ur recovery

So from what i read... when you flash Amon_ra from the rom manager.. you loose the functions of the rom manager... is that right?
also do you know if you can flash back to Clockworkmod recovery just by opening up rom manager and going to all clockwork mod recoveries and selecting the latest?

so basically its click click to switch between the two?

Well that's good that we can swap back and forth.. Cause some reading I've done says that sometimes clock doesn't do a good job of wiping delvik cache but amon ra does it good.. Some even say to flash their rom with other recovery

Yeah, just saw that RA has a evo 1.8 version and I have the 1.7.01 version and am trying to figure out how to upgrade it. But that's for a different topic.

I like being able to tweak, but the amount of reading and opinions over how to do and what to do is mind boggling.
