Froyo RUU Non-Root

I mirrored the download, because I lost the link that I got.
This is the RUU, and it will wipe your phone, Clean. (It won't wipe your SD card) , but it's up to you. It's the exact same as the official that Verizon is rolling out, except a Preferred Roaming List, which just determines what towers you can connect to.

This will not root your phone.

If you are sitting on the black screen with the silver leave it that way. Disconnect the cable, reboot the PC, hook the cable up and try the RUU again.

If that fails try reinstalling HTC Sync

I never disconnected it, left it at the screen with the HTC logo...closed the installer and ran it again.

I actually just finished doing a full root with -s off and I'm installed Third Wave right now.


Thanks for help anyways!! I'm glad I decided to root.


edit: ThirdWave gave me a error on the install so I'm flashing to CyanogenMod 6.0

Use a Vista or XP machine. Win-7 is havind known issues with this.

Anyone tried to (or figured out a way to) downgrade from the RUU back to stock? Would it be possible to just downgrade the ROM without downgrading the radio that was in the RUU? thanks all

Note that this doesn't wipe your phone completely clean.

It gets rid of all apps, preferences, scenes, contacts, etc. etc.

But my videos, pictures (even ones taken with the DInc), roms, and the like remained on my phone.

The RUU is stock. It is exactly the same as if you update using the OTA.

i was wondering.. did anyone try to run the RUU with the "Run as Administrator" option? the usb errors seem out of place..

Not to mention you do not have to reactivate your phone either.

No, you download it to your pc, connect the phone via usb and run the RUU from the PC.
