THIS IS JUST COPY AND PASTED FROM ALLDROID

To quote koush in his droidx recovery release..."this was a b.itch"
To install, YOU MUST HAVE THE 2.2 LEAK INSTALLED
Use clockworkmod recovery
v0.1 includes

  • OptiPNG optimized apk's
  • Deodexed
  • Busybox
  • Updated Superuser.apk (credits to chainsdd)
  • Removed
    • 3g hotspot
    • Kindle (market app)
    • Blockbuster (bankrupt company)
    • EMERGENCY (dial 911 for emergency's...dont screw around with an app)
    • My Verizon (bad market app)
    • Maps (market app)
    • Voice search (market app)
    • Swype (removed for their constant anger towards rom devs)
    • Skype (market app)
Download from Rom manager now

I can see a noticeable performance difference. I didn't rename or remove any apps, just rooted and deodezed. I mostly see it when switcing screens and opening and closing the app drawer.

Hmmm... Ok, you got me. Someone mentioned in the other thread that the lag on the unlock screen was gone so I guess I'll give it a shot. Worst case I can just reload my current backup. (CWRecovery rules!!!!)

Wow, I have a LOT of questions before attempting to try this out. I currently have the 2.2 leaked version with root and have done the Build.prop modification to fix the market. Here are my questions:

1) Regarding the Build.prop fix, I believe birdman said to undo that. Why? Do we have to redo it again after installing flyX in order to get the protected apps in the market again?

2) I currently have a Recovery Backup on my sd card. If I install this ROM and decide I don't like it, I can just boot back into recovery and restore that backup, right? It will put my phone exactly the way it was before I tried flyX?

3) Does flyX solve the Force Close problem with the battery icon?

4) What do these mean:

OptiPNG optimized apk's
Deodexed
Busybox
Updated Superuser.apk (credits to chainsdd)

5) To install flyX, what do I need to do exactly? Do a Recovery Backup, put the old Build.prop back in, boot into Recovery, Wipe data, Install flyX? Am I missing anything?

6) Once I install flyX, what's the easiest way to get my homescreens back the way they were? I'm using Launcher Pro, LaunchX, etc. Could I just back these up using Titanium before installing flyX?

Thanks!

I dislike that Swype was taken out.

I agree, but I am also confident there is a .apk floating around that would allow us to reinstall it. (Or for that matter, simply copy it away to the sdcard prior to running this ROM. Then install it yourself).

I'd be curious to know what "OptiPNG optimized apk's" means. I think I have done pretty much everything else mentioned already.

That doesn't matter for this, I had the edits done and it didn't stop me here. I believe the reason was that when you do a wipe through the phone (not through CW Recovery) Backup Assistant kicks in then stalls.

Yes.

3) Does flyX solve the Force Close problem with the battery icon?
I had it happen a couple times before it would work and not work. So far this is working on min.

4) What do these mean:

OptiPNG optimized apk's not sure
Deodexed forum search
Busybox forum search
Updated Superuser.apk (credits to chainsdd) new version
Double Complete rainbow, what does it mean?

5) To install flyX, what do I need to do exactly? Do a Recovery Backup, put the old Build.prop back in, boot into Recovery, Wipe data, Install flyX? Am I missing anything?
I downloaded in ROM Manager, when completed it will prompt you and check backup and then wipe/data and cache. Do both.

6) Once I install flyX, what's the easiest way to get my homescreens back the way they were? I'm using Launcher Pro, LaunchX, etc. Could I just back these up using Titanium before installing flyX?
I did the titanium back up for all user apps (NOT SYSTEM DATA).

Thanks!

See bold.

OptiPNG goes through all the PNG (image) files in the system framework and apps and optimizes (compresses) them.

This can result in anywhere between a few to up to 30 or 40% reduction in file sizes.

Smaller image files load faster. You get the idea.

Just ran FlyX against my own deodexed, bloatware removed rom and scored the EXACT same quadrant. 1362. Nothing to see here... move along folks :)

Not trying to be a jerk, but dont expect anything groundbreaking is all I'm saying.

I still love the birdman and appreciate what he does, but I wouldnt really call this a rom?? Its more like what every user has pretty much done already anyways. All it takes is Root Explorer and Xultimate :)

I know this is only an alpha version 0.1, so I'm looking forward to the updates bird. Thanks for what you do man.

My big question is... now I have flyx rom running with nextheme going as well. Will I need to revert back to a clean froyo when the next good rom.comes out. Or can I just flash the rom.over the top.of.this one

If it's like having Rom Manager on the D1 than you shouldn't have to. I would just wipe data and do a back up every time you install a new ROM. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong :).

Exactly what I was going to say. Nothing really new. Most rooted uses already had this stuff.
