So i did the root method for 2.2 and used simple root for the final step as suggested on these forums, Worked like a charm, i didnt even have to toggle airplane mode just went right through. I am curently running CM6 basically because i had Android and Me's tutorial video running through the process and that was what he was using. any way, so yay me for rooting! but now my questions

i like Cyanogen i dont really have a problem with it but in the event that i did feel adventurous and wanted to flash another rom or 2 there are a few things ive been reading that dont make sense to me. Do most roms come with a kernel? i keep reading about flashing kernels over roms but cant find a good explanation of this, and to be honest im confused about what a kernel is still, if there is a thread on this and i missed it please direct me to it. so on that do u flash a rom first then the kernel you want over it? and where do u flash it from rom manager or recovery? also i was reading the thread at XDA about the newest fresh rom on it, just using it as an example. it says to flash the radios, now i understand what the radios are but again where do u flash them and is this after youve flashed everything else, do they get flashed before you boot the rom for the first time? would this hurt it if you went back to flash them after you started the rom? im guessing the flash order is Rom/Kernel/Radios/Gapps and that is it all done in recovery under "flash zip from sd card"? but that is just me thinking logically

Any way that is my biggest question right now. i am enjoying all the features of my rooted EVO, my favorite so far being able to play the emulators with the Wii Mote =) yea there is a big kid in us all!

Every ROM comes with its own Kernel but can feel free to flash any compatible Kernel over ur existing ROM this in most cases will yield better overall performance, substantial battery life gains,OC capabilities, unlock FPS..........

All the flashing should be done while in recovery allowing the phone to reboot in between flashes. My flashing order is as follow ROM/Gapps(CM6 only)/Kernel/Radios this does not mean that every time you flash a Kernel u need to go tru all this. Radios will stick even if u decide to flash a different ROM or Kernel at a later time,u only flash radios when a new one becomes available. When a flashing a Kernel always wipe cache/dalvik-cache before flashing.
