After going through 4 Samsung Moments...

I realized that there might be 2 releases of versions of the Moment. Or maybe it was made in 2 different factories and was packaged differently. BTW all the exchanges were done at a best buy.

The first Moment had a plastic film over the keyboard and plastic covering all around the phone. The track pad had a film over it too.
This phone felt solid and the battery was decent but I thought I would be best to exchange it to get a better battery and faster working GPS.

The 2nd one had only the plastic film for the screen and back plate. The keyboard had a lot of play and battery life was worst than the first one. GPS could track me while in my house while the first one could not.

The 3rd one was like the 2nd one with plastic only on the screen and back plate. The keyboard had play and battery only lasted me 4-5 hours. GPS was decent. Crashes constantly and requires battery pull.

The current one I made sure that the best buy employee got the phone from the back being that it is the oldest. Sure enough it had the plastic all around the phone and keyboard. So far battery life has been better than all of the Moments but GPS is not always finding me in a timely manner or even get a signal at all. Little play in keyboard.

I guess I might be a little too picky with the phone, but since I have to deal with this phone for 2 years I can't live with all these annoyances when I still have option is exchange it. So far I am happy with the current one :)

Also note that all 4 phones I've cycled the battery at least 3 if not more times.

To bad you fell for the battery meter problem.
These suckers will go forever on 5%

The other phones you got I have no clue about.
but your first and last were as mine was.
I left the plastic on the keyboard.
Works good.

The GPS is a bit buggy though due to 1.5 stuff from what i've read. I have no luck with signal in google maps, but i can get signal with other programs.
I think maybe sprint navigation might be screwing it up. Possibly.

It's a good phone, just wait for some updates before you go exchanging them for problems that are not hardware related.

Interesting. I got my moment on the first day of release, and was the first person to come into the store for one that day... and mine feels very solid, battery can last up to 30 hours, and I haven't had to pull the battery for any reason yet.

Maybe Samsung has a bad batch out there.

Ditto....I was the first one in Daytona Beach to pick one up at Best Buy. Mine was as the first one described. I get 24 hours plus on the battery...however, a good portion of that time is spent below 15% with no keyboard or screen back light

Just buy a spare battery and you'll be set. Exchanging a phone for a tiny varianation in battery life is extreme.

There's no reason for me to have to buy another battery when the phone is suppose to come with a battery that works. These aren't tiny variations either, we are talking about 2-4 hour differences that is basically half my work day when the phone goes dead.

Yeah, I bought my phone right at opening Sunday the 1st, too. No problems with build quality. According to the Samsung site when I registered mine, it has a build date of 10/25 and only had plastic on the screen and behind the slide.

I was a doubter of this idea but...I had to swap my phone for another for a few hours the other day and despite heay internet use, talking and all programs being equal. The battery outlasted my original by mucho tiempo. My old one would die with all of that within a few hours but this one lasted and had 60% left when I went to bed after 4 hours of that abuse. I ran "white noise" all night and got up to 40% then used the phone for work a lot and internet some and I finally got complete drain at about 1. So when I quit using that phone I discreetly swapped batteries.
