Help Should I download Froyo?

Hi everyone. I should be getting my Evo within the next couple of hours and I'm wondering if I should immediately download 2.2 or if there are any good reasons to hold off. I've read a few things about problems with the screen, battery life, etc. but I don't know if that's really caused by the new version or just in people's minds.

Thanks.

(I'm assuming Froyo is officially available, right? I'm not interested in a ROM.)

I would definitely root first. You can now root 2.2, but you first have to downgrade to 2.1. So if you root now, you save yourself some work.

There are a couple of issues with 2.2, however, even after rooting and with custom ROMs, such as WAV files not playing correctly, apps using AAC codec not playing properly (Pandora, Slacker, maybe others). Some people (like me) also have noticed lower battery life and cannot get the problem solved.

That said, keep in mind that 2.2 is definitely faster and you don't have to worry about killing apps all the time. Also, you can always downgrade back to 2.1 if you ever need to.
