how can a canadian get one launch day?

A) drive to the states and buy a desire hd without a contract?
(Are these phones unlocked)

B) Wait for online retailers like ebay to have unlocked version?

C) Can I buy a Htc Desire Hd unlocked from Htc?

A. From what we know it does not seem likely it will be released in the States, at least not initially.

B. This is a possibility. But will a European phone work on Canadian Networks?

C. Don't know about HTC but all sorts of retailers sell phones unlocked in the UK, you could get it shipped I guess. But again will it work?

Has to be announced today. I'm totally *****.I'm from montreal, Canada. I was about to buy an HTC desire from telus (the 850mhz version) and sign a 3 year contract with fido (with a free iphone4 that I'll sell). The desire will work properly on fido network (FIDO and TELUS both use 850). But now, I'm confused. Should I wait before signing? how long to i'll have to wait to see an Desire HD with the 850 capability? Wich carriers can ACTUALLY support the desire HD? What would you do in my place folks?

So wait a minute my carrier is hspda+ running on 1900mhz while the Desire Hd is running only on 2100mhz?

EDIT!

Htc says the Desire Hd runs on these networks:

Network 4

Europe:
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

Asia Pacific:
HSPA/WCDMA: 900/2100 MHz
GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz

So I should be able to run the phone?

AT&T (rogers fido) runs on GSM 850/1900. If the factory version is quad band like it said on their website...it should we be working properly.

Can someone can confirm ? I've just sold my crapple Iphone 4 (had to wait 5 hours in front of the store a 7 AM) at full price to get a Desire.

Australia got the classic Desire 850/1900 in the same time with the rest of European and asian... i know many people who used to buy theirs at australian online shops. Will it be the same for the HD ?

Many questions...so few answers.

the phone is quad band for VOICE! not 3G! unless your 3G network uses 1700/2100 you WILL NOT GET 3G SERVICE!

Well first, your so-called "3G" can be used for voice, not only for data. Bellus' new network uses W-CDMA for voice, which is a "3G" technology.

Second, the Desire HD does not support the AWS band at all, so it won't work on WIND, Videotron, etc.

There's a problem with this, Desire HD's network bands won't work with the Canadian carriers or at least you won't be able to have data plans with it. And I don't think the Desire HD is releasing in the US since the US already has the EVO 4G, it's listed to release in Asia and Europe, I know we should be getting it but with the network bands listed I have doubts. Same goes for the Desire Z.

Telus, Bell and Rogers runs on 850/1900 HSPA bands, Desire HD and Z are listed at 900/2100.
