Help automatic shut-off

my droid shuts itself off in the middle of a song, why does it do this? How can I stop this from happening?

First off, let me ask - is this the original Motorola DROID? If so, can you tell me what version of Android are you running? If you are rooted or not? And if you are overclocked or not?

Whoa!! this is my first post. but i joined this forum to troubleshoot this exact issue. but mine doesnt shut off during a song. it shuts off whenever. it started 2 days ago. the warning message comes up that the bettery is dead, and then it shuts off. even when i have a fully charged battery. the battery indicator shows a black battery with a question mark in it.
i have no idea what rooted or overlocked means!! OY!

Has anyone else played with your phone?

If not, how long has this been happening - and how do you know the battery is charged if it gives that symbol - or will it show the battery is charged, then all of a sudden change to that black symbol and then shut off?

If that is the case it sounds like in your case your battery has gone bad - fortunately, you can buy used batteries pretty cheaply from Amazon....
