Only when the phone is plugged in to the computer is the screen really slow to respond and is usually inaccurate. I pretty much only use the "Charge Only" option when plugged in.

There is no problem when plugged into the wall.

Anyone else have this problem?

I did a little searching and didnt find anything.

are you using the stock charger?
I know sometimes when i use a different USB cord or charger the screen no worky
I believe he is only talking about having the phone plugged in via USB.

OP, I just recently noticed this issue on my phone as well. I don't believe this was a problem when I had 2.1, although I cannot confirm.

I do not have this problem, and had actually heard of people with screen issues having them fixed with 2.2 ( I did not have it with 2.1 or with the 2.2 RUU I am currently on. )

Ouch woop, did you manage to catch all of the rare bugs?:(

Is there any specific apps it has issues with? Can you try playing with the "Multi-touch visualizer" ( Search the market ) while plugged in and see if anything unusual happens?

Heres an odd thought also: Can you try playing music in the background while you have it plugged in? This is a simple way to tell if it is actually the phone lagging for some reason as the sound will get choppy, versus say an issue specifically with the screen where the music would play fine even though the screen does not respond.

Seriously. Who needs the random reboot and grounding flaw issues when I have choppy screen movements and no audio earpieces!

Music was fine when I played one song and left it alone. Seemed to lag a bit when I skipped the song. Where I had the most lag was responding to texts. I'm not sure whether this is the OS itself lagging or the screen somehow catching a pseudo-ground flaw. Whenever I type a text, it'll pick up half the letters I press. I had to end up slowing down to a crawl to type the text and at times even press the letter several times.

Can you play the music while you type out a text?

Also, have you tried the battery pull aero mentioned? Finally, have you tried a factory reset ( I know, last resort..but curious if you might have already done that which really could rule a lot out. )

What about the multi-touch visualizer? It "should" display up to 2 simultaneous touches that track fairly smoothly. ( you can check it out while unplugged to know what to expect. )

..and yea, I still have no idea about the speaker one:( Perhaps try going through every single volume in the various settings and turning them down, closing, opening back up and turning them to full.

I can, but the text still doesn't register.

Yes, I've done both battery pull and then a factory reset due to not having audio in the earpiece, thus being told by VZW tech support to reset my phone against my will (so they can document I tried before they send me a replacement, even after I told them it would not work). I guess its a moot point now, since I will be getting a refurb unit and sending this one back. Hopefully my next one won't have either issues I've experienced after the 2.2 OTA.

That really sucks...hopefully the new phone is better than the old! Typically a refurb will have to go through more rigorous testing.

I guess I will just have to unplug it from the computer to use it, then re-plug it.

Since you already did the RUU, I would look at talking to VZ and possibly getting a replacement. The issue sounds like a hardware fault, which could possibly cause more problems further down the road. You already went through a wipe, so a new phone shouldn't be as painful now as 6 months later...

Resurrecting an old thread, but I have an update.

Whenever I have my phone connected to the computer and the computer power plugged in, the phone screen is still very unresponsive. However, when I unplug the computer's power and run it on battery power the phone's screen works just fine....

Does the screen work when you aren't holding it in your hand... I believe I remember reading that some incredibles had a grounding issue and maybe when you plug the phone(computer) in, the ground is somehow being effected.

Do the "multitouch" apps in the market register a touch when it's plugged in?

I'd try on other computers, or a different usb cable, try to isolate the issue.

on a personal note, I would of went for a replacement the moment I noticed the issue.

I've had this once or twice...anything that can be fixed by unplugging it for a second doesn't call for a replacement in my book. But that's just me...

I've never had this issue, but if the phone goes laggy when connected to the computer via USB for data transfer and not when connected for charging only, it suggests either that it's something to do with the phone not having access to the SD card (since it's mounted as a drive to the PC), or else the cord is not the greatest. Not all USB cords are adequate for data transfer, although most seem OK for charging.

I've been experiencing this. When the phone is plugged in to the wall charging (maybe only when it's fully charged) the screen becomes super unresponsive but as soon as unplug it, it's fine. Anyone have any ideas? I know this is an old thread but since I can't decide on what new phone I want verizon to rip me off on I'll be using the incredible a while longer.

Its a grounding issue, could either be a hardware defect in the phone or a hardware defect in the USB cable you are using.

Thanks, I'll try some other power cables and see if that fixes it if not guess I'm on the hook for a new phone guess I could just not use it while it's plugged in but that's how I leave it at work since the battery life is only so so on it to begin with.

Been looking at a Razor Maxx but can't seem to get over the fact that I really like HTC phones and I'm sure as soon as I do it some better phone will come out or the price will drop on whatever I buy LOL

The htc incredible 4g is coming out this month. Rumored to be $149.99 after rebate.
