Help Manually check for updates for apps?

I just had something weird happen to me.

I went into the notification bar to see I had two updates for apps that I have. However only a second or two after the notification window was up it suddenly disappeared and kicked me back to my home screen.

When I returned to the notification window the app update notifications were no longer there.

Is there a way that I can make my Droid go check for updates again?

If you go to the Market app and hit the Menu Key > Downloads, you will see a list of all your downloaded apps, with an orange "Update Available" next to the ones with updates available.

Does anyone know of an app that compiles the apps you have on your phone and checks them for updates?

As in an app that does exactly what going to "market --> downloads" does?

(I use astro to backup and restore my apps so if I restore an app for astro the "market --> downloads" doesn't show that I actually have that app installed so it in turn doesn't show if it has an update available).

Thanks

I find that it b0rks at least one install almost every time I use it. However, when I have 8 in a row, and only one breaks, it still takes less time to restart that one and get all the other 7 done....

I haven't really explored it either, but I suspect that it has to do with the fact that I have Apps2SD enabled for a lot of apps as well....
