Root 2.2 Root?

All the instructions point to rooting a "stock" EVO 2.2 from Sprint. Nobody has mentioned if they were successful rooting a phone that was not stock with 2.2 and had accepted an update from Sprint to 2.2. Has anyone rooted and "updated" 2.2 that didn't come from Sprint with 2.2 on it?

not me mine came today with 2.2 preinstalled

Whether you updated your device to the official 2.2 from the OTA or got it from Sprint, they are the same update. Doesn't matter.

The rooting method rolls your phone back to 2.1 and then roots your phone from there.

Im using XDAs guide to root the 2.2 update ...and to be honest i made it to step 6 where u use adb to push those 5 files to the sd card. i did it word for word and after i hit enter after the first one it jus say error device not found. i really want to root but its hard to stay motivated with a bump this early in the road. blaahhh:thinking:
