Help Outlook/Exchange Rules and Froyo Email Sync

I just got my first Android phone, a Droid 2.

I previously had the original BlackBerry Storm which when I first got it I loved but after a very short time I came to hate for it's crappy interfaces terrible performance and so on. But one thing that it did very well was work with my corporate exchange email.

I use rules to move new email from the inbox to folders that really help me to keep my email organized, which is very important since I get 200-300 emails on a normal day and many more when there are emergencies at work. As each was moved to the appropriate folder I would get my notification on my BB and could go read the mail.

However now that I am using Froyo, I find that it can see all of my emails and shows the correct folders and so forth but I only get notifications for email that is in the inbox. This does not work well especially when I have a customer emailing me with an emergency.

So my question is this:
Is there a way to setup my rules so that they wait for 6 hours (or whatever time I select) before they are moved to one of the other folders so that I can still get my notifications on my Droid 2 but still keep the mailbox relatively organized?

I hate the idea of running the rule manually because Outlook requires you to select each one individually and since I have about 50 rules this is a hassle, another option would be to make the rules Client Side only but I cannot seem to find a way to do this either so if anybody can give me instructions on this that would be great.

Of course if you have a way that you use for this that works better please let me know as I am open to suggestions, these are just the options that I have come up on my own.

Thanks!

I don't care for the Touchdown UI at all...but it does have a great feature set.

Your original question was an Outlook/Exchange question, not a Droid question per se...have you tried googling or asking it in an outlook/exchange forum, where more experts may be available?

i've used rules like that before, and remember that when you set up a rule there was something that sounded like a "when" setting (e.g., "do this when the email arrives" or similar)...have you looked at that? Set up a new rule and see what timing options are offered to you in the rule wizard....

Redflea you're on the right track. I was able to figure this out on my own by playing with the rules in Outlook/Exchange.

I did download and try Touchdown but I have to agree with Redflea, I didn't really like the interface. It was a little to cutesy for me, also the contact integration with the other components on my phone such as the built in contact list and Facebook sucked completely. And there was no integration between the Touchdown calendar and the built in calendar. So I removed it and went back to the built in app using the rule changes below.

There is a rule setting at the very bottom that says "on this machine only", this part will make it so that the rule is a "client only" rule and is not uploaded to Exchange. That way all emails are delivered to your inbox (pushed to the default mail client) and then when you startup Outlook and it see's the messages they are then moved to the appropriate folders.

The only bummer is that I don't get a notification on my phone that I have a new email if I leave outlook open, so I have to make sure that it is closed before going to meetings, lunch, home, etc.
