Some newbie questions...

1. Once something has been trashed, is there a way to "untrash" and/or restore it?
2. How do I move a widget from one screen to another?
3. When my phone is connected to WiFi, does it automatically use WiFi for data transfer (so I'm not using up my VZW data allocation)?
4. I have a "news feed" widget on one of my screens. I know I saw this setting somewhere, but can't seem to find it again -- is there a way I can kill the news feed? (I don't want to use up my data allocation on useless news feeds.)
5. I just took a look at all of my "running services." Some of them I don't need or want (and they waste battery power and data allocation). Is there a way to set which programs run at start-up, and which have to be manually launched?

Thanks again, everyone, for helping out a newbie!

Not sure, but I wanna say no unless you have it backed up somewhere.

Long press on the widgest until you feel it vibrate and then you can move it.

It automatically uses wi-fi

You can use a task manager to place the app/widget in auto kill mode.

There is an app that does exactly this, but it requires rooting. Not sure if other apps are out there that can do this without rooting or not. You can also use a task manager to place a service in the auto kill list. But you should be careful with which services you do kill, if any at all.

If you're talking about deleting a file, no it cannot be undone. If you are talking about uninstalling an app, yes, just re-download the app.

If you dont want it, you can remove it form the home screen. if you still want it, you can go into the settings (Menu-Settings-Accounts and sync) and set it to sync once a day, or just sync it manually.

Dont worry, there are a lot of running services, but a lot of them arent actually "running". Android if VERY good at managing apps, unlike Windows. It will use the memory (ram) to its fullest potential, and load a bunch of apps into it. ONLY the programs that are in the foreground are running, minus apps that sync in the background. That is why task killers arent recommended. Every time you kill an app, Android is just going to load it back into cache, and that uses more battery then just leaving it alone.

Long press on the widgest until you feel it vibrate and then you can move it.

Thought I'd add: Once you can move it, drag to either edge of the screen. The screen edge will turn from white to green. Wait half a second and the screen will scroll to the next screen. Drop it where you want too. You can span multiply screens till you find where to want to drop the widget.
