Taking My Eris Back-Maybe Omnia 2 or Passion

I love the Eris, but the battery life sucks. I had an LG Dare before which suited me fine other than the crappy web surfing. The battery lasted forever. Heck, I had the phone turned on, but wasn't using it for two weeks after I had my Eris activated. I had it in the console of my car. I bumped it and it still had half a battery left. I had charged the Eris at work and charged it full-came home and put it on my nightstand and it the battery was nearly drained.

I know some people have given tips on saving batteries, but it defeats the point of a smartphone. I do not want to have to worry about the charge on my phone. To me the artificial intelligence on the Eris makes it a relatively dumb phone. If the phone is not being used for more than 10 minutes and is sitting idle, it should automatically turn the networks off and then switch them back on if it is picked back up. I shouldn't have to think about turning things off which are obvious to save the battery. It is a pain in the ass.

I may get the Omnia 2 or the Passion if it is out within the next week or two-also have been considering Storm 2. I just need something to surf the news on the way home, updated FB and send text messages, If it was not f or the Eris poor battery life, I would keep the phone or if they update the software to conserve battery or if I could buy a new battery. It is too much of a pain to keep.

You will not get better battery life on the Storm 2. Omnia 2 yes. Find a complete smart phone that will last you a complete day...good luck.

depending on how you use the Storm 2 you will get a full day i believe what the op is stating is that when doing nothing the phone dies out. Coming from blackberry for the last 2 years battery life on those was the best for me plus they have extended batteries.

I really don't think you are giving you eris a chance,
My battery is getting better and better and you learn the best tweeks to save battery juice, I had a friend that didn't even know to turn his brightness down to 10-20%, it saved his battery big time. I really think and smartphone you use pulling down data over 3G is going to have a tuff time with its battery. I'm getting a day and a half, two days with shutting it off over night while sleeping and using wifi for surfing when home.

I have an Eris and I wasnt too happy when the battery didnt last more than 7 hours. The first day was horrible. Being a newb I didnt know that the Eris uses the same mini usb cable to charge as the BBs. I did read the numerous posts on how to extend your battery life by using another SMS messaging system rather than the default Message program and reconditioning my battery I am getting much better battery life. I came from the Storm and that also lasted less than a day with normal usage. So if you do go to some other device I doubt you will see a better battery gain unless you go to the BB Curve that had the best battery life of any smartphones I saw.

The reason batteries last longer on other phones is because the other phones suck!
so nobody is using the phone to use the battery!
just dialing, maybe text or some java games. not gps, multi-tasking, bar code scanning web browsing and who knows what other apps people have on they phone nowadays! (that new android porn app comes to mind)
