Hi.....recently rooted......bloatware gone.......1 click lagfixed and loving it.
I tried to receive a pic from a buddy today in a text msg and it showed he sent it......it was 32k.....said downloading........never got the pic......what's up with that? Any help is greatly appreciated.:(

I saw one post on this issue but no response nor fix . I have not had any success on sending out pictures via txt or MMS. I have had limited success in sending them via email but it takes 2 days to be received. This is a feature I use all the time so it is not acceptable. I took it back to the store and the sales rep had the same phone tested hers and had the same problem. I think I will be exchanging mine. I want to know if this is a problem with Android across the board or just this particular phone.

I am having trouble sending MMS video...I know there is a limit to size, but somehow I am not getting the adjustment set correctly to send an SMS vid. Has anyone got this figured out?..If so can you post a reply with specifics of what to do...and how to adjust the camera or settings to make it possible to send SMS..Thanks....Captivate...Love it

Not across android. I've the the HTC Eris and Motorola Droid and have not had this problem.

Must be an issue with your phone.
But make sure you are not using wifi when trying to send MMS messages. Also, try a different messaging app. I like Handcent.

I am not familiar with your phone. But on the Droid you can lower the resolution, and there is actually a setting that says MMS, another that says You Tube. Not sure if your phone will have those settings. But look for them. Makes it easy to know what resolution to use.

If not, just lower it to the lowest setting and try to send. Also, make sure you are using 3G and not wifi

I have a question about picture messages. Earlier today, my friend was trying to send a screenshot of his iPhone to me, but it was stuck on downloading. I called up AT&T earlier and the person I talked to said it was a limitation of 300KB set by Samsung, and they can't do anything about it. But I've read a post about sending MMS and someone said that Samsung blames AT&T and AT&T denies it. So I was wondering if there was anyway to change it to send and receive pictures messages larger than 300KB?

What kind of service do you have in your area? Edge or 3g? If you are on edge, there is a bug in the captivate that will not let you send picture messages over 100kb. Sending pics works fine over 3g. I'm having the same problem and am waiting patiently for the update to fix this issue. The only advice I can give you (which works for me) is to set your picture resolution to 3.2 mp or lower and set your Image Quality to Normal. When you try to send your next pic message, after you send it, long press on your pic message, then select "message details". You will see the info about your message, if the message size is over 100 kb, it will not send on edge and you'll have to delete it and try again with a lower resoultion setting. Hope this info helps.

3G= MMS no problem

Edge= MMS problem if the Sun is above the Horizon, actually works at night.

Does the AT&T network loosen requirements in the evenings?

Could it be a function of ionospheric conditions?

I'm in a normal size city with access to 3G, however, my brother in need is in a smaller town where AT&T has Edge blazing maximum.

I have yet to see a disclaimer or acknowledgement that this is an issue which is fixable either via software with Samsung/Android or AT&T hardware/software side.

Hey, I had this problem too when receiving a message while connected to the internet. I just disconnected, changed my message settings from automatic retrieval, and downloaded the message and it worked fine. I'm not even sure I had to disconnect, but I ended up getting it fine and then I just set everything back to normal.

I have AT&T's Samsung Captivate and my friend was sending me a photo from a Verizon Blackberry and the message says "Downloading". It is 32KB and I tried resetting my phone and it still has not downloaded. What now?

it will not download if you are connected to the internet via wifi. turn off wifi and connect via moblie data and you should be good.
