So I've had my Evo for a few days now (got it on the Epic's launch day); I love it so far, but there are a few issues I'm concerned about.
1) My wifi will not connect to my home router(s) unless I set a static IP address on my phone. While that's not a big deal in my house, I hope that doesn't mean I'll have trouble connecting to wifi hotspots while away from home (I haven't had the chance to try yet). The weird thing is that it did connect automatically a single time, when I first set up the phone...but then never did again after that. I've tried rebooting my cable modem, router, and second router (set up as a wireless repeater), as well as the phone...but it just won't connect automatically.
2) This really isn't an issue with my phone as it is more with Sprint itself. In my apartment, I get virtually no reception. I contacted Sprint CS and they are sending me an Airave to take care of that issue for me. They're going to scratch the monthly fee, but I did have to pay $50 for the device up front (they said had I been with Sprint longer, I would have been able to get the device for free...and that if I stay with Sprint, a few months from now I should be able to get the $50 credited to my account). However, this leads to my last issue...
3) I can't tell if I'm getting good battery life or not right now. The first thing I did when I got my phone, was calibrate the battery as has been suggested on here multiple times. I charged my phone yesterday to 100% and then went out with friends and took my phone with me. I made a few bluetooth calls while on the drive over...sent a bunch of text messages, but really didn't do much else besides that...came home late and pretty much went to bed. Right now I'm at 42% battery life and being unplugged for 15 1/2 hours. The display has been on for about 50 minutes of that last 15 1/2 hours. But the thing that has me curious is that under cell standby, it says "Time without a signal 92%". Does that mean I had been actively using my signal only 8% of the time, or does that literally mean that I didn't have a signal 92% of the time and my phone was probably actively looking for one, thus draining my battery life even faster.
Does anyone have any ideas or insight on these issues? Also, my Evo had froyo right out of the box....would it be recommended for me to do a hard reset (as many people who upgraded have stated it helped)? Or would that be unnecessary, as it had shipped with froyo installed?
Also, sorry to tack this in here...but if anyone has a good case recommendation, please let me know. I have the Seido Innocase Active, but I don't really like it that much. It seems to attract lint and dust like crazy, and now my phone always looks "dirty". Also, it always catches on the inside of my pockets, making it difficult to take out.
Thank you for any responses.
