daughter has locked my phone....

Hi, My 4yr old has locked my phone after an attempt to open the pattern lock, I have stupidly forgotten password to my google account. Have tried to reset password, but cant seem to get anywhere... how can I get acess to my phone with out going back to factory settings? PLEASE HELP

With my DROID on 2.2, After 5 incorrect tries, I am told to wait 30 seconds. After waiting 30 seconds I get another 5 tries and am told to wait 30 seconds again. After another 30 seconds I get yet the same thing again. This seems to repeat ad nausuem...

What phone are you using? I can then move this to that particular forum so you can get better help from users using the same phone as you....

Hi karen1974brown!

Welcome to the forums!

Have you tried to access your Google account from a PC maybe? You can always try to get the password for ur phone's google Account from there, if you need to then try do a soft reset as it will not make you lose any data, it will just replace the basic settings.

Different models have different ways of soft resetting. So simply type your handsets model number + soft reset into Google Search. Easy as pie!

Let me know dude... and good luck!

If it is a Samsung moment, I know that you can call your phone from another phone and when it rings frantically hit the home button until you get to the home screen. Then you can back your phone up and reset it otherwise the password will stay. If you know our pattern unlock then you dont need to back it up and reset just reset the pattern. Hope it works for you..

no way....!!!!!!!! Thank you so very much.... It worked!!!!!!!!!!! Can't believe it..... Most excellent.... Thank you

Glad you got it fixed.

Also, it might be worth trying null as the password.

Weird I know, but it seems to work for a lot of people.

I'm gonna have to remember this in case I ever run into this problem again.

Don't factory reset your Samsung Epic! This is what I did: I had this happen to me as well. Try sliding your phone open first. I entered my google password but got an incorrect password error, even though I KNOW I was typing the correct password. I called my cell from another phone and pressed the back key to get to the home screen (it wouldn't allow me to just press the home key) and frantically pressed the menu and settings buttons (if you don't press them fast enough it will take you back to the slide lock screen requiring your google account info again). From there I disabled the unlock pattern and ended the phone call. It would only allow me to access my phone then if I slid the phone open, after which google verification asked me for a captcha entry. From there it allowed me into my phone with no more issues. I think the google asked for a captcha from the beginning that could only be seen if the phone was slid open maybe? That's why I say try sliding your phone open if you get the incorrect password error. This sucks, because what it says is that if someone gets your phone and answers an incoming phone call, then they will be able to access your phone.

Good info, but the post was from back in September....looks like her second post said she got it fixed.
