Root FRG22D Odexed and DEodexed available from Pete Alfonso's page any info on them?

I finally got my ota notice today and have been hitting install later even though I could just let Clockwork handle it.

I know that there is a rooted deodexed FRG22d from P3 that has been busyboxed but comments on it say that it is a little buggy. It has been out for a while.

I just went to Peter Alfonso's page and he has a FRG22d both odexed and deodexed under his stock system files.

I am using Pete's stock FRG01b rooted and it is working fine.

Problem is Pete's site just gives the files with no info or comments.

My usual source a popular Blog has really dropped the ball on covering the Droid 1 and this is where in the past I have got my info on taking my Droid through rooting.

I am assuming that what Pete has on his download is rooted but don't know.

Anyone have info on Pete's FRG22D roms and their info on rooted or not and if I need to wipe going from FRG01B?

Also how stable are they and if there are any glitches like with P3's rom?

Thank You in advance.

I'm using FRG22D Deodexed and really haven't had any problems at all. I also ran FRG01B. I'm rooted. I updated to FRG01B, then updated to FRG22D. No wipe from FRG01B, and everything seems fine. Although some people claim that they DID need to wipe, I didn't, so be aware you might need to. Also make a nice backup first!

That is a fairly new additoin to Pete's site as I have been checking every other day or so and he never posted up about it like he did for FRG01B and that is, more than likely because no big woppie to be honest to go to FRG22D as there is really only the addition of Flash in the market - which you can have anyway - and some "bug fixes" that include some BT updates and Exchange settings I dont care about.

But, I was still watching to see if he would do it and it appears he finally did, but lagged, but likely cause it was no big deal whereas FRG01B was the 2.2 big news.

And you know, if it is Pete's of course it is rooted.

Even IF I make the jump, I knew I would wait for Pete's as, like you point out, the P3 had some quirks I read a lot about. But if he didn't do it, I didn't care that much as FRG01B gets it done perfect. I downloaded a copy though to have locally.

EDIT: Pete may have them listed on his site, but these are provided by someone named MetiCkOne whom I don't know/follow. this might also explain why no actual blog post about it by Pete... as he did not make it, just listed them

some snippets I have picked up about deodexed and odexed that might help some..

Deodex version will allow you to theme it when compatible themes come out for it. Odex will not allow theme to be applied

---

Odexed is coded and signed, one step closer to the way it came from Google/Moto/Verizon... In theory, Odexed is supposed to be faster than Deodexed.

Deodexed is decoded and unsigned, which allows for adding of themes and other mods.

---

odexed=stock (no customs themes) deodexed=non stock you can make and or install custom themes so on

---

Personally I would recommend the deodexex build because there is always a possibility that somebody may develop a nice theme for the build that you want to try out. If you are running the odexed version you would have to flash the deodexed version to get the theme on and that would mean setting up your device all over again.

Has anyone used the FRG22D from Pete's page? I have it but I am hesitant to load it. I am running BBV0.4 and I am getting consistent quadrant scores in the 1370 range.
I have everything I need to make my phone exactly the way I want it to look for FRG22D and plenty of kernel choices, but was looking for info from anyone who has tried it.
My problem is I have no complaints from my droid as it is now, so unless I hear of some great benefit from FRG22D I will probably stay where I am..... running very smooth, very good battery life, a sweet theme, and flash 10.1.

I took the plunge and yesterday loaded up FRG22D Odexed overtop of Pete's stock FRG01b. The version of FRG22D I used was not from Pete's site but was the MetiCkOne. Thank you puffmtd that was the info/link I followed. If Lock-N-Load has it right then that is the same files that Pete's site has. I installed using Rom Manager and Clockwork Recovery with no wipe. Everything is working A-Ok.

I realize FRG22D is not that big a deal, The advantage to finally loading it to me was to get rid of the Update reminders and to also go to market and download Flash from there so that it is now in my Market Downloads so that I can keep track of and be notified of any upgrades. (I had Downloaded and installed the leaked file of Flash. Installing it this way you loose out on the feature of having it in your Market Downloaded list and being notified of Upgrades.) (Second side here is that I know I am being optimistic of Updates anytime soon for flash seeing it is Adobe and it took this long just to get it.)

Thank You all!

UPDATE:

as I speculated and said above, the FRG22D files that "were" listed on Pete's page when this thread started were not likely his, but those of MetiCkOne as seen on droidforums.net

well, just today a new post is up on Pete's download page that says "FRG22D Will upload tomorrow after my Trig Exam" and those assumed MetiCkOne versions are gone.

point.. it looks like some actual Pete's versions are coming as his Twits also confirm.

I see just today Droid Life has for the first time even mentioned Droid 1 and Rooting FRD22D and this is for stock to root. They give two methods how to do that. I am surprised that it has taken them this long to get to this as the root method for the RSD Lite method they are linking to was posted on 8/23. When FRG01B came out a rooted stock file for those that were already rooted was up on their site even before a Manual Update for stock was available if I remember right. I am guessing that with all the new phones hitting the market, (which is a good thing) the little old Droid 1 is getting a little neglected by them.

Anyone have any other good blogs out there on Android? Not forums but actual Blog/news sites like Droid Life?
