Hey guys,

I had the INC, gave it to the wife to swap for the storm 2. Now i'm going back to another Android device. I have a choice on whether to get the Droid 2 or the Droid X. I like them both equally that's why I can't seem to decide which to get. Which would you recommend, why and/or why not.

Thanks in advance.

The X has a bigger screen (and therefore a bigger soft keyboard), and better hardware.

The 2 is an updated Droid 1 phone, better keyboard, faster cpu and bigger battery, but essentially the same screen, graphics processor, etc. The X will do circles around it.

I've never had a need or want for a slideout keyboard with my X and like the fact that certain keys can change depending on the application. Can't do that with a slideout keyboard, it's always the same keys.

Slideout keyboards are for dinky phones and insecure people. Just get the X and don't look back.

It's all preference. My wife has and likes the D2 and wanted the DX for the screen size.

But does she feel she needs the slideout keyboard? Has she used yours?

I don't want the extra thickness and smaller screen, slower hardware, shorter battery life for something I might need, but turns out, never use. Best to play with one before purchasing then. I even prefer the D1's onscreen keyboard in portrait mode to the slideout version.

OTOH, the store's going to sell what they have and they're more likely to have D2's in stock than DX's.

Same situation here, my wife preferred the size and physical keyboard of the Droid 2 and it is working great for her (at least once we exchanged the bad unit she initially received). I liked the larger screen and physical buttons of the Droid X and so far it is working great for me.

For us, battery life and speed on the two seems very similar, although a better comparison will probably be once the Droid X is also running Android 2.2.

The X is probably the best smart phone on the market today plus it's on the best netVwork too. I am having minor issues with the X but Verizon has promised me the fixes are in the September update that's why it is late being released. I almost left Verizon over it but cooler heads prevail there is no better out there it's like having a laptop in my pocket.

Went ahead and bought the X! Thanks for the advice guys. Is it me or does the X seems slower than the INC? maybe it's just me but I'm loving this thing even though the phone's size is overwhelming. I'll get used to it.

The Inc ui is snapper than the X no doubt about it. I never had to wait 10 seconds for the app list to appear on the inc. The X can be so slow to respond sometimes I think I missed the button. This causes me to press it again and again and then finally I'll get a butt load of list opened all at once.

Its the one thing I miss on my X. A UI that responds instantly, the X can certainly lag at times.

You certainly will! I almost went with a DInc over the DX because of the size (I have smallish hands), but went DX anyways, figuring if I really didn't like it, I could exchange it for a DInc. But 2 days after getting it, I picked up my iPhone 3Gs and went "Wow, how did I ever use such a tiny little screen?!" LOVING it so far!

Is the new Samsung worth a look for those eyeing a DX?

That's where I'm heading....I'm waiting for the Samsung Fascinate to be released...I want to check the Fascinate out and give it a week or so before I decide. I'm leaning towards the Droid X right now because of the 2g internal memory, Bing, VZW navigator crap on the Fascinate....people are trying REAL hard to mess up what sounds like a great phone. My wife likes the X.

Last time I checked, the majority of the phones that were incompatible with Ford's Sync were Samsung (9 out of 12). I think that says something about the quality of their software and how much they care about supporting it.

Yea I've been seeing that Samsung's support for their past phones sucks...I would hope that Samsung would actually support a cell phone that is carried by almost ALL of the US carriers....but we all know how that hopey changey thing works out... Besides I don't own a Ford.....lol

Yeah I have been pouring over forums, youtube, and websites all weekend trying to decide between the X, D2, or this new Samsung...I have the X on order right now but it isn't going to shipped until 9/16 so I have time if I change my mind.

Hate to burst your bubble, but the D2 has the same identical SoC as the DX. Only thing different is the 5MP camera and smaller screen and sliding keyboard. Also the D2 comes with an 8GB card, compared to the DX., Other than that, they are quite similar.
The hardware is not slower, nor is the battery life shorter (unless the D2 comes with a smaller battery).

I'm glad I went with the DX, but my wife is intent on the D2 just for the physical keyboard. Different stroke for different folks.

When I first messed with the dx I thought, oh my wow this is a huge huge phone. And was leaning more toward the inc. But my boyfriend got the x and the more I've played with it the more I love it! And coming from my blackberry I also think about this little tiny screen! I'm hating having to use my blackberry while my X is in transit! I loved using my boyfriend's so much I ordered my own!

My speaker is louder after running 2.2 I didnt notice it until today. Only reason I noticed today is because it scared me when the phone rung. I was used to having a lower speaker.

I really didnt believe ppl that said the speaker got louder with 2.2. I couldnt tell the first few days after I installed it. I noticed almost a month later...lol Either that or it comes n goes and I just noticed it coming in today.

As far as the X or Droid 2...take away the slide out keyboard, screen size and I would pick the X. Figure out if u want a slide out keyboard or not, a bigger phone or not and the decision should be easier for u.

IMO the Droid 2 will have better battery life tho for 2 reasons: smaller screen and probably one less antenna. The 2 already has a higher rated talk time by 1 hr 40 min. The X has real good battery life especially for a phone that size. The 2 has a higher rated talk time and has a smaller battery....amazing. (I sound like a broken record about the talk time, been posting that alot lately...lol)

The Fascinate or the X....tough choice there for me.
