Accessories Platinum Series Snap-On Case/Holster Combo (Best Buy)

I had to stop into work for a couple hours to finish a few things this morning and came across this case:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Platinu...18226127993&skuId=1151267&st=droidx&cp=1&lp=3

After checking my employee price I decided to check our inventory system to see who the supplier was for the product... and as I thought the supplier is Seidio. I went ahead and bought it and compared it to a fellow employees Innocase Surface at my other job. This case is essentially the Innocase Surface combo for 34.99 at Best Buy. Same exact design and fit. Only complaint is that I would rather have the Ash Grey color and this particular Best Buy "version" only comes in black.

So if you are looking to get the Innocase Surface w/ holster, you may want to go to your local Best Buy and check this out.

I went to snap some photos of the case installed on my phone, but my camera is dead. Perhaps when the gf gets home I will take some with her Incredible and post 'em up.

EDIT: The link was working, but now it just takes you to the main page for some reason. Just go to www.bestbuy.com and enter 1151267 into the search box.

I purchased the same case and concur that it does fit with the ext battery. The case is made to fit w/o the new ext battery door, so if you look under the area with the ports you'll see a slight gap rather than fitting flush with the back, but you probably won't notice this if you're not looking for it. But the seams are secure, so the case isn't going anywhere.

The only issue I have with this case is it is difficult to remove. Has anyone has this case and removed it easily? What is the trick? With a nickel in the coin slot, it doesn't pop it right off...almost have to feed the coin through the seam up the edge of the phone until the top latch pops off. This is great if you don't want the case to accidentally pop off, but if you need to pull the battery to reset the phone or want to pop in a spare battery, i'm afraid of damaging the case or the phone by removing this.

I does not fit in the Moto car-dock, I have already modified mine to fit the rocketfish case and still no dice without further modification. HUGE disappointment, next step is to figure out how to turn the holster into a car dock.

So if this is the same as the seidio surface, its a shame, I'm really disappointed they didn't think ahead on this one, or at least have there own car dock in the works.

Seidio charges $49.95 for both the clip and case. How is this ridiculous?

Trust me, it is ridiculous. The only major argument regarding Seidio is that they actually design and produce their own products.

This case (along with the soft-touch version they sell) are designed and manufactured by 3rd Party Chinese companies who also sell said cases through many other 3rd parties for over half the price.

$35 for a case that can be easily purchased via another supplier (eBay, Handhelditems, Amazon, etc) is ridiculous.

Actually as my original post stated this is a product made for Best Buy by SEIDIO. The box each group of 6 come in is marked SEIDIO, and the inventory system shows the supplier as SEIDIO. The case and the holster are exactly the same as the SEIDIO branded ones you purchase from the online store.. not only in looks but function. So claiming that this is 3rd party Chinese junk is incorrect.

Actually I think mine said made in China, so maybe SEIDO is from China too? I have learned you get what you pay for, sure in no way is this case/holster combo worth 35 bucks but they sell the cheapo cases for 25 bucks. My buddy has the $25 one and it's really flimsy compared and the cut outs are huge, the snaps are weak and it was only 10 bucks cheaper.

The case is very thick for a snap on case. The plastic feels similar to the soft touch finish on the phone. The cut outs are precise and the holster has soft felt like material that the screen rests on when holstered.

The case can be removed more easily if you just get it started with a coin then run a fingernail through the seam. It has a nice lip that completes the seal of both pieces. Looks pretty heavy duty.

It's not what I was looking for but it will give me some piece of mind for when I'm at work and it's sitting in my pocket.

I have a rubber case with the check (argyle) pattern on it in the mail. Ordered it for 7 cents from amazon, with shipping came to $3.50. I figure that's a fair price :) My hope is I can use it with a previously purchased car dock. The dock is a strong magnetic little pod that sticks to your dash and came with metal coins that stick to the back of the phone to attach to the little pod on. I have tested it and the magnet, even through the nice case is strong enough to trigger the car dock screen. I just hope it is strong enough to secure the phone.

Is any case really worth $50? Not to me. If this is basically a re-branded $50 case for less than there's a deal there...for those who see that as a value.

You are quite correct. No case is worth what you are charged for it. My employee discount for working 1-2 days a week at Best Buy shows how much markup on shit like this really is.. BUT for people who dont have that convenience and were thinking of spending 50 for the Innocase online anyways, this is a rebranded Innocase for 15 dollars less.

Mind posting a link to this car dock?

I just bought this at my local Best Buy store and I am very pleased with it. The case is very slim and has the soft touch feel on the whole thing. The holster works very well and the top clip hold the phone very well. I am very picky with cases ( this the 3rd one I bought) and I think this is going to be the one. A bonus will be if this works with the seidio rugged add on case.

There's no reason at all it won't work with the Rugged addon. The case is exactly the same as the Seidio branded version other than the PS logo vs. the word Seidio on the back of it. I have the Platinum and my wife has the Seidio - no difference whatsoever.

I love it how Best Buy gets away with charging such ridiculous prices on accessories like this one...

OT ~ Remember Circuit City? Electronics and appliances have pencil thin margins. Add in the high cost of running a brick and mortar store the only place to make money is on accessories. The first rule in running any business is to turn a profit. It's not a bad thing.

I bought the combo from BB. For me, it works as expected. No regrets.
