Help Sync with microsoft outlook?

I am trying to decide between the HTC Desire or the Galaxy S and cant work out if you can sync your contacts with the Galaxy?

I dont mean as a one of import, but as in to being able to regularly do a sync between phone and PC so any new entries to are copied from one to the other? Is that possible, easy and robust to do with a Galaxy?

If you have a Microsoft Exchange based email server, then it does. However, as far as I can tell only email, calendar and contacts are sync'd. Tasks are not.

I'm using gsynchit with a few time zone related hiccups.

Assuming you are using a corporate Exchange server you may be able to synch with Exchange server and hence your desktop outlook if your corporate IT has opened up the secure web services for Exchange server. And of course if they don't block connections from 'droid phones...
If you can access your email/contacts/calendar via something like https://webmail.company.com then you should try the built in over the air sync first before exploring the various applications in the above thread.

To put it simply, No. You cannot sync easily with your PC and Galaxy S. I initially had this issue with the G1 phone last year and was told by T-Mobile (UK) that this will link straight to the PC using supplied software (which isn't supplied, it's downloadable and crashes your PC/Laptop) and USB cable.

Veery dissapointing considering it's touted as 'an Iphone Beater'.

Why did I not just payn the extra and get the iPhone?

and another thing... (do I sound dissapointed or what?) it will Sync but only in one directio, from Phone to PC. If I get a new phone, guess where I want my contacts from.. yes that's right, the PC! Come on Android / Samsung, get this right and you've cracked it.

Too many people are getting annoyed with you over this now.

I download CompanionLink's free trial. Worked for me on the first try. Haven't synced since, to see if it works "both ways" correctly. Worth the try though....

It syncs both way if you want advanced sync like reoccuriing apointments get gsyncit, owner answers email fast and when an error pops up again he replies to your questions. But I have 3-4 appointments a day 300 or so contacts, and all sync, i love it I can enter data in my phone and it synced at home when I get there, in fact bought my wife an Android and now we share the calendars I can tell what is hers and mine and we can edit each others!
