i would like to say thank you for this great rom..but im haveing trouble trying to figure out how to block ads on my apps ..does anyone know where that setting is at.thank you
Can you explain this a bit more into detail and I will try to help you...I havent seen this problem yet, thanks

Edit..Are you talking about when you search for say a pizza place and the location markers pop up on the map so does the ads at the top??

After doing some searching around I don't think there is a setting to turn that off in fact I read a write up regarding this same issue on that half eatin fruit device and it says Google reserves the right to place sponsored links on the maps...any one else have any input to add??

these were listed in LFY 1.4 not sure how many apply to 1.6:
*** System Script List ***

apps2sd - system will choose where to install apps
apps2sdoff -
all apps will be installed internally
apps2sdon -
all apps will be installed to your sdcard
blockads -
blocks ads from apps
freemem -
frees 100mb internal memory
godmode -
permission to system so any file manager may access root
reboot -
reboots your phone
recovery -
reboots into recovery
rmbrowser -
removes stock web browser
rmcalculator

In the OP there is a link listing system scripts. There isn't a "setting" built in that turns off ads. But there's a "block ads" script you can run using Terminal Emulator (make sure you get the one called "Android Terminal Emulator" by Jack Palevich). Run the script and ads will no longer show up in your apps. Hope this helps!

OK, back to the topic - This ROM flies, right up until I push the 1200 kernel onto my phone. Then it starts doing stupid things like lagging a bit.

I got over 24 hours of usages on the initial run of 1.6 - but I forgot that it was the stock kernel. After rectifying that situation I got issues galore - and all of them very very flaky issues too.

1.6 overall still runs better than 1.5 did when using the same kernel, and 1.6 runs better when running stock. I might just leave that stock kernel alone, and leave my phone at 1000 MHz - b/c at the stock kernel on the stock ROM, it is still just as fast as any ROM / kernel combination I have ever used.

2 good things come out of this - I am stressing my CPU less with a lower OC, and my battery will last longer for the same reason.

Then, there is the issue that even after completely removing Swype, I could not install it - it kept telling me it as already installed - but that could also be due to the fact that I used TiBu to restore it to test my theory that if you restore all of it including settings, then it works - once I did that I may have hosed future installs b/c of the data that was simply not being removed like it should have been...

Finally, there is the issue where installing the ROM and the theme in he same pass in recovery leaves me with a temporarily bricked phone - another theory I was testing. It starts to load the first 5-6 frames of the bootanim, then cycles back to trying to load the same 5-06 frames, repeatedly. Obviously, this ROM requires hat you install and set up the ROM first and then reboot into recovery and install the them (or, at least it does on my phone....)

Finally, a few thoughts: What could possibly be causing my phone to feel so sluggish when on a 1200 kernel that it is not doing on a 1000 kernel? I noticed that on 1200 when on interactive the phone would get hot pretty fast when browsing for simple things, so it may be the combination of those things and a few others....regardless, though, I am going to try several things different with this second install and see if manually setting everything up versus using TiBu helps me out in the long run or not.

It's 2:36 AM here right now - I might be done by 6 AM with all this lol....

Just a few thoughts on your issues... if your phone is running fast enough on the stock kernel that you did not notice you were not running at 1200 why change kernels? If you run faster your battery life will be decreased and your phone will run hotter.

Also the problems you are having with swype and a temporary boot loop seem like user error and not a problem with the rom. I have tried using titanium to restore swype and it fails for me every time. As for flashing roms and then themes without rebooting in between seems to be hit or miss with me, some roms seem to agree play fine with those installs while others will not. I personally let my system sync on the stock version of the rom before applying any themes.

As to your last question. Your experience with the 1200 kernel sounds like mine. When running it my phone also lags I also experience random crashes of apps when running at that speed, the lower speed kernels seem to work better and more stable. I blame this on the hardware limitations, when motorola made the phone they designed it to run at 550 when the phone is OCed to 1200 it is running at more than 2x what the manufacturer intended. While the CPU can obviously handle these speeds other components of the phone may not be able to at all times.

Just my 2

anyone having music mod scrobbling problems or no vibrating notification problems?

okay I know no one cares but I reflashed the LFY 1.6 rom after reformatting everything (per install instructions) and then booted and flashed to black and bold and still had scrobbling issues so i said fugg it and flashed straight to Black and Bold 1.5 running on LFY 1.6 and the result was amazing! I got scrobbling working on my music mod and music controls on my lock screen now and i figured out why my notifications weren't working! (Volume Control app, I didn't have the little cell phone icon highlighted to vibrate next to the call and notification controls).

not really sure where to put this question/observation, but does anyone else get a fc when trying to click on a place when using the map? I'm just now noticing it since switching to 1.6 (not sure if it has anything to do with the rom...).

More specifically, when you do a search in google maps, and click on any of the locations (A, B, C, ect.) immediatly it shuts down. Just thought i would see

I'm having the exact same problem. Same thing happens when clicking on someone in Latitude, I get an instant force close. Never had this problem before.

If anyone has a fix, let me know. Otherwise great ROM.

That would either be the temp from beautiful widgets or temp monitor (lite?) depending on what one you are asking about.
Must be the temp monitor (not lite) cuz i have the lite version and it only gives you the black or white notification color (you get to customize in the donate). It just looks different than the one i have. And i didnt know you had a temp notification from beautiful widgets?

Thanks Rodeojones for the additional input...I am not familiar with scripts nor do I know how to run them but I will search for a "How to"...thanks a bunch!

For all who see this:

If you restore Swype using TiBu, then you may run into problems. However, just uninstalling the Swype app will give you problems - b/c Swype is an IME, and removing doesn't remove it from the system correctly, so if you use the installer to try to install it again, you'll run into an error message similar to "Swype is already installed. Please uninstall it first before continuing."

To remedy this, you only need to uninstall Swype (not the installer), then reboot the phone and finally, run the installer. I have heard of some limited success with folks just force closing the desktop, and one person said to first go into Manage Applications / use a task kill and kill the Swype service, but this method I am outlining works as long as the install is nor corrupted and cannot be removed.

No issues with the market FCing - when installing the ROM, did you wipe as suggested? Did you install the ROM and nothing else, or did you go ahead and apply themes and / or a kernel in the same cycle?

Just curious here?
I wiped everything 3 times just for good measure.

I installed LFYv1.6 properly, and then the Galaxy S theme.

Using TiBackup I restored swype (the current version)
and it works and I've never had a FC since flashing.

The market in my previous 1.5 LFY would take some time to
*load* but in 1.6 it flies. I just wanted to put that out there.;)

The lack of a Red Theme for LFY has had me debating as to whether to even load it. I'll give LFY 1.6 a try and report the comparison.

On a side note, a Red theme for the LFY ROMs would be much appreciated.

Why not make it?
https://docs.google.com/Doc?docid=0AcdxIJRSH9ypZGZzc2pxNDlfMjdnazk4OHNxZA&hl=en:D

-Get 7zip
-open up a LFY supported theme
-take a look at which items were themed
-insert your own *red* colors

The aforementioned link tells you where things are located.
The worst thing to happen is it boot loops.
So you make a back-up and restore the zip and
you're up and running in a few minutes....

Well, turns out that both of us were right on 1.5. Some phones seemed to fly while other's stalled. Lots of testing went into the question of adding compcache back in to 1.6 and once slayer tweaked his kernels again...Compcache isn't necessary.

You won't get lynched...You just better like it!

I'm kidding of course! Speak the truth my friend! You're review last time led to many other people going against popular opinion and claiming lag. This discussion of "lag" is what led to Liquid/Slayer redesigning the ROM/Kernel combo. Proof again, that the ROM Reviewing System is useful...for multiple reasons! ;) None of the testers had noticed any problems with lag during the testing period...

Nah...not doing it. I loaded the Revolution Theme and I'm loving it! Just would like to see a few more widgets themed to match and I would be 100% satisfied (but I'm picky LOL). :)

Well, let me put it to you this way UBRocked...
If there is lag to be found, or an issue to be uncovered.

*I* will find it through my usage!

I can break the unbreakable.
If you need a tester that has OCD and a perfection complex?
Hit me up bro.

I am fairly new to this forum and I want to learn how to install ROMs by downloading from the links posted by Liquid on the first post of this thread.

I want to learn how to (not in this order) install the ROMs, then the different Kernels, then the Themes, then the etc...
Hi there. We were all *new* at one point or another...
ROM manager is an essential tool that I use all the time.
I won't preach to you about searching because the questions you've
asked have been answered extensively but just realize the reward in
finding the information all by yourself is much sweeter...:)

-Download the ROM to your laptop/computer
-Connect your phone to your laptop/computer

-Mount the phone so that it appears as a drive onto your computer.
-Drag and drop *all* themes, and the ROM you wish to use onto
the *root* of your SC card.

(I made a folder called LFYv1.6 and put everything in there)
(Themes, ROM, kernels, Dock icons...ANYTHING related to LFYv1.6)

Note: Do not use SPREcovery. Use Clockwork Recovery.
Clockwork is proven to work.

Note: if for some reason (up at the top inside of ROM manager) you are
running SPREcovery, make sure you have a good 3g/Wifi connection and flash
Clockwork Recovery. It will tell you it is flashed, THEN:

Follow these instructions:
http://android.markjohnston.us/DL/LFY/RNOTES/installation.txt

*Once this is done, you can then*

-Open ROM manager and select *install from SD card*
-Navigate to a theme, and run it doing nothing else, just running it.
-Repeat directions and run your choice of kernel.

I have looked at the link for instructions posted above the ROM and themes but where I get confused is at what point do I install the themes or install the Kernels...I hope i'm not asking to much but I just want to learn and I am trying to do this now so I can keep up with this thread post by post and contribute myself!

Thank you so much for anybody's assistance in advance!!

The only difference to the instructions posted is that
I wipe 3 times, and make sure I wipe the advanced stuff:

system, cache, data, boot...

That will do it.

Must be the temp monitor (not lite) cuz i have the lite version and it only gives you the black or white notification color (you get to customize in the donate). It just looks different than the one i have. And i didnt know you had a temp notification from beautiful widgets?

That was a complete guess on beautiful widgets I use weather and toggle widgets donate it has a temp notification setting and I've seen people say they are about the same, the weather clock widget in the ss are beautiful widgets I do believe as weather and toggle only give you the option for a flip clock the smaller widgets are just weather

I really want to love this rom. Its fairly snappy and I love the galaxy s theme. But no matter what I try I can't get over the market FC issues. But imo, UD8 is just as fast if not faster and has more customization options plus the greatest battery life I've ever had. Will be eagerly awaiting Liquids next release as I always love trying out his roms.

Seems that a few people using the Galaxy S theme are having the same problems but not very many. You may want to try a different theme and see if that fixes it for you. I would appreciate the feedback if do try a new theme (did it fix the FC's?).

Yeah, the white notification is from Beautiful Widgets and the colored (blue in some screenshots and green in others) is Temp Monitor (full version). You can't have deg F listed in the lite version and the only color options in the lite version are white and black as you stated.

Looks like my problem with maps was most likely caused by Galaxy. I nandroided back to my stock 1.6, maps worked. Installed BB theme, maps worked. Flashed my 1.1 slayher kernel, maps work.

If I have time tomorrow, maybe I'll put the Galaxy theme back on it to see if that was really the cause of my FCs. Galaxy is a beautiful theme, but I needs my maps.

Installed 1.6 and then the incognito and now the browser FC's everytime I try to open it. Great. I guess I'll try fixing permissions and maybe a reboot, otherwise I'll have try a different theme.

Edit: well I installed the Revolution theme and browser works fine. I really liked the Incognito theme though. Wonder what was wrong. And, btw, this thing is FAST. Short benches hit 140 consistently and first quadrant was 1531!

Guess, I'm being stupid,:( but how do you run the script? I've got the TE, and when I type apps2sd, I get permission denied. Running 1.6 with Watermark'd Theme.

Thanks in advance.

Here's how I do it:
I use the hardware keyboard.
In TE, I type su and hit enter.
Then I type the name of the script (e.g. apps2sd) and hit enter.
A confirmation message appears.
That's it!
