How do you send a text message to your entire contact list, or more than one?

There's an app in the Android Market that does exactly this. It's called TextEasy. You just open it, and it has all of your contacts with a checkbox next to them. You check off the contacts you want to send the message to, and you're good! I actually use this for all texting, because you can't type names in the "To" field like with the Sidekick. Anyone know if they'll give us that feature anytime soon?

In the supplied messaging app, if you press the to To: field and start typing a "name" then the phone will try and match the name you are typing. I agree it's not the best SMS app but it works, I haven't tried texteasy yet and quite possibly I won't because I hardly use SMS

Hmm, I just tried it out right now. It only works with some names. It's really weird. I have four Michaels on my contact list, yet typing "Michael" only gives me two suggestions. I also have many "O'Neills" (as that is my last name) and when I type that, only my name shows up. Definitely broken.

I have no problem typing names into the "To" field to send text messages. I didn't need to download anything, it's always done this.

I do this -

1 - Open "Messaging"
2 - Tap - New Message
3 - Start typing a name, the "To" field is already highlighted. Android starts suggesting names below the "To" field, and then I tap the one that fits. It usually only takes typing the first 2-3 letters for it to pull the correct name.

As soon as you tap the correct name it puts that number into the "To", adds a comma, and is ready for you to type the next name.

I guess one thing to note is that it will NOT start suggesting names until you've typed at least 2 letters. If you're trying to text "Peggy" and you just type "P" it's not going to do anything but put the letter "P" in the "To" field. When you type "PE" it starts pulling up names(first and last) that start with "PE" and also the numbers that would correspond on a phone keypad (PE = 73)

It's NOT Broken.

If there's more than two names, then there's more than two suggestions, it's just there's not room to fit them all on the screen, so you have to scroll through the suggestion list.

Most any time there's a list on this device, and you don't see the option you want, try scrolling. And in this case, you can't use the trackball to scroll, you have to finger scroll. More than likely this is to keep you from accidentally popping out of the "To" field and into the text body or to the send button by accident.

Hope that helped.
