Ok so here is my problem maybe a bot will show up and help me! or someone else with knowledge.
First some background info:
running leaked 2.2
rooted.
bootstrapper downloaded
rom manager downloaded.
NO task killers.

Ok so i follow Droider13's steps here to back up and all. but when i click back up current ROM and try to name and save it my phone instantly shuts down. Another weird thing i noticed is anytime my phone is plugged into my computer and my phone is off it goes to the bootloader screen automatically. Please help. I want to create back ups but this is really making me mad. I can usually figure my problems out on my own. but this area of my phone is new to me. Many thanks will be given!:D

Did you actually go into the Bootstrap program and run it (the top option).

Then go into Rom Manager and load the recovery and select Droid X.

From there you should be able to Make Backups / Flash Roms.

went into bootstrap. hit bootstrap recovery. got a pop up "success!". went into rom manager for the first time after it rebooting and it says in a pop up "recovery failure" then three selections: Recovery mode is "broken". ROM Manager doesn't reboot. and Other. and if by "load recovery you mean "Flash ClockworkMod recovery" i clicked that and selected Droid X. and it shows current recovery: ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7

first try turning off sdcard notifications in the sound menu

and then...does it create the backup in the clockworkmod folder

all i have in the clockworkmod folder is .rommanager_license, .settings, downloads, and recovery-update. but recovery update isn't what i tried naming the back up when it shut down. my sd card notifications are already off. they are annoying :p

so you can't even make a backup, I though you said when you try to rename a backup...

right i can't even make a backup. Sorry if i was unclear. so i followed your directions to a T. and when i press done it just shuts down. and in my clockworkmod folder the recovery-update.zip was last modified around the time i tried the backup if that means anything.

still didn't work. just took a few seconds longer for it to shut down. This is a ss of what comes up on my ROM manager after opening it for the first time

Same problem here- I also get "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands" whenever I click the "Fix Permissions" button.

I rooted using Universal Androot- I've also tried unrooting and rebooting, rerooting- Same problems.

Are all "roots" equal?

EDIT:
Nevermind- Unrooted, rebooted, re-rooted, install BusyBox, Installed Bootstrap, Installed Rom Manager, Run Boostrap, Create Backup-

Success.
