Help Is your red camera button loose

The excuse I keep seeing quoted is it jiggles because it's a two stage button. My last phone had a two stage camera button and it was as solid as the other buttons. It really bothers me. I just can't seem to think up any valid excuse. It functions fine though. I wish it were more solid feeling and wider. With a case on (platinum series from best buy) it's almost useless.

It's normal, been jiggly on both X's I've had and assume it will be the same on the third when I get it.

Oh, I don't mean that the fact that it wiggles side to side is because of it being a two-stage button. But it's going to have a softer initial depression than other buttons because it's two-stage - which can contribute to its feeling of being wiggly (when added to the side-to-side movement).

It's definitely not a strongly built button - it appears that the button itself is just a small mechanism in the middle of the button, on which the button cover is free to rock back and forth (rather than the mechanism supporting the entire button). Maybe not a good design - but as I said, I will judge it harshly if it breaks, for now it serves its purpose.

Sorry, I think my wording came out wrong, didn't mean to sound as if I was arguing your point. Meant only that most reviews have dismissed the jiggling because of the two stage button, in other word's, instead of faulting motorola they use it as an excuse.

I agee with your point.

I think BV hit the nail on the head. The button is much larger than the mechanism it presses. So the button rocks on top of the mechanism some. I don't think it is "loose" - rather it rocks some. It can be annoying because you still need to press the center of the button to take a picture. I sometimes end up pressing the edge of the button by mistake. I'd rather see a smaller button, or a larger mechanism under the existing button.

I don't think the is any risk of breaking it however.

So... who has zero-deductible insurance on their phone and is willing to take it apart to figure out what needs to be done to fix it?

I'm sure it'd be simple to fix. Were it something that substantially impacted me, I'd be inclined to dissect the phone to figure it out, but I'm not about to take my phone apart over something that barely registers on my scale of annoyances.

Perfect timing as mine came off totally today as I was switching cases. Freaked me out as I had to search for it. FYI the camera (stock app) can NOT be focused or activated without the red bar. Fortunately I found it. It has two pegs that fit into holes on the switch. I probably should have dropped a tiny bit of super glue in there. Will do that if it happens again.

^^^HHHHUUUMMM.... I smell troll! Just pulled on mine the body would have to come apart for the button to just fall out. Either u really abuse you phone or as your profile suggest you don't own a X but a EVO.

BTW who would ever put glue in their phone I would just get send it back and get a replacement. Please go back under your bridge and wait for another goat to come along. If you show pics then I will take back everything I said .

Really? You must be the pride of your family. I would have taken a picture of the red bar but MY X's CAMERA WOULD NOT WORK WITHOUT IT. And yes I switched from EVO to X. You'll take it back after proof?? WTH would I bother to make this up? IOW who is the real troll?

First off, fix your profile to the X so you won't be mistaken as a troll!

Second, you don't own a point and shoot camera, web cam? if you don't then Ill take back the show pic part.

Third, WHO IN THEIR RITE MIND THAT REALLY OWNS A MOTOROLA DROID X PUT SUPER GLUE TO REATTACH A DESIGN FLAWED BUTTON AND VOID THEIR WARRANTY.

Fourth, Im not the pride of my family my wife and sons are! atleast to me.

PS... If anyone else has had this problem please post your concerns so we can all get properly informed of this problem. TY

1) I'll leave my profile as-is as I have both phones. That makes me a troll? Says more about you.

2) Yes I have a T2i. Guess what? It's not at work. My first concern was getting the button back on not proving it to the doubting Thomas here.

3) It's a piece of plastic with two small pegs. Gluing it to where it belongs is A) unobtrusive and B) would hardly affect the warranty. I'll type slowly for you.......one small drop of Super Glue. Done.

4) Nuance is lost on you as is spelling.
