I never use my physical keyboard. I would like a slim case to protect my phone and i dont care if the KB doesnt slide out at all. i would actually prefer it stay closed.

Hard plastic or a soft silicone is ok with me. i have the soft rubber case around my work BB and it works perfect. I would love something like that for my droid.

And i want one that doesnt raise too much over the screen. a coworker has a hard case for his iphone and it makes it hard to hit the touch screen on the borders. the case sits so high you have to put your finger or thumb almost verticle to touch the on screen keyboard.

anything like that out there?

this is exactly what i want. anyone have any experiance with one of these?

Thanks!

You should buy it and take one for the team and report back to us and tell us what you think.

Motorola DROID Shell-Holster Combo Case

I have that case which I bought from Verizon when I got my droid. Wasn't fond of the Body Glove case since it looked so ugly to me. I like this shell as it protects the phone extremely well (My wife has dropped my droid once already, quite a long fall too and not a single solitary scratch on it).

Biggest selling point for me was the fact that when you have the phone in the holster the screen faces in and is protected from everything. Even when you remove it to use it the angles and spacing on the outside edges of the case will protect the screen from concrete. Just don't drop it on stones/gravel. Worth 30 bux to me to have peace of mind knowing that shiny hi-res glass screen has nothing to worry about except finger grease.

yeah i think i will. Ill buy it today and post some feed back when i get it. I need to look at it againt ho, i thought i saw somewhere thatthe jelly case above (the only one Ive seen so far) is actuall 2 pcs as well. that it still slides.

I don't think anyone would make a ONE pice case to disable the ability to slide out the keyboard, although you may never use it it's still a feature of the phone and 90% of people out there would not buy a case to disable that feature in return that's why manufacturers don't develop such a case.

But that Jelly one looks nice and like it would protect it fairly well.

Someone had a post on the forum yesterday about this. He just put a small piece of electrical tape on the lower end of the phone, right between the two sections. I'm going to give it a shot if I can find my electrical tape. Apparently it keeps the phone together more snugly than normal and isn't really intrusive - you can only see it when the keyboard is open.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of putting tape on there with left-over adhesive that could be quite messy etc.

i super glued mine. works like a charm, not loose at all.

I thought about doing this, the only reason I am not is because I want to sell my phone as soon as a good android 2.0 device comes out without a keyboard, hopefully the "google phone" soon. Or I may even go back to the iPhone next year when it comes to verizon unless apple kills jailbreaking somehow.

A lot of people who own a droid, including me, want a 1 piece case. You have to remember this is the first phone that has ever came close to competing with the iPhone. A lot of people like me choose their carrier based on their phone, but I could no longer tolerate AT&T since there was a phone that could compete with it. I think they would actually sell a lot of these cases because me and a lot of other people look at a physical keyboard as a big negative.

I was having issues with my phone opening too easily and it would always come open in my pocket. I put 3 pieces of electrical tape on the back of the screen in the center, one on top of the other to add some extra friction. It is definitely harder to open now but I haven't had the chance to test if it still come open in my pocket. Electrical tape normally doesn't leave any residue

I was thinking of small thin rubber pegs (to reduce scratching) that fit in (wedge if you will) either side of the cracks thus keeping it in place when you grab it from the right / left side.
