Root unrEVOked 3.2: one-click root for Froyo, no downgrading

I have a quick question. I am still running 2.1 with unrevoked3. Should I do the upgrade to 2.2 and then run unrevoked forever followed by the new unrevoked3.2? Also, do I need to do anything to unrevoked before I run the OTA update to froyo? Thanks in advance!!

Can't you just flash a custom 2.2 ROM? Therefore no need to do the OTA update.

Looks like Unrevoked 3.2 has been pulled for now. Unrevoked 3.2 available, now works with Froyo [update: It's been pulled] | Android Central

Fairly certain with unrEVOked you can get the S-off toggle and then flash the RUU. Should take you back to stock, if need be.

Takes you to stock with S-OFF. That was the whole point of unrevoked forever: preserving S-OFF no matter what you flashed. But they have created a tool to switch it back to S-ON if you need. It's on their wiki.

This is just what I was waiting for. I've been seriously considering the downgrade and root method, but it makes me really nervous, because I haven't used a command line since middle school computer class almost 20 years ago. I have no geekitude, but I'm here to learn.

Just went to unrevoked's wiki, and they took down 3.2 because a couple people reported bugs.

Yeah and that is really what I planned on doing, but each time I try I run into some little porblem that I just cannot find time to delve into (three young, kids, work, school etc...excuses, excuses...I know!) e.g I was going to slalp one on there a few mintues ago but it required toasts method and I have used unrevoked3. Is there a stock rom that you recommend that will work with unrevoked? I really am mostly concerned with wifi tethering but I am always happy to enjoy increased performance. I am not afraid to experiment and I rooted my previous phone. I actually like the HTC sense so I would like to stick with that for now so a boring 2.2 will work. Again thanks!

Unrevoked3.0 has been a curse to many in the Evo rooting community. I know you're busy, but if you get a chance, make sure your phone is fully rooted. unrevoked3 was a halfway root, which just makes things inconvenient.

Can you elaborate a bit? I've been waiting for 3.2 to reappear (sans bugs) since I saw this thread. But if that's not the best way to go...
