So I now find myself, as I'm riding the T (for those of you not from Boston, the train), eyeballing other people's phones. This is not done out of a sense of smugness (honestly!) but rather to scope others out might have also taken the leap and bought a Droid.

I know there are at least two Phandroid members from Boston, so I always wonder. Maybe we should get a secret handshake?!?

If you're out there- say hello! :p

I remember seeing an app where you could basically flick the phone and it would send your contact details to a receiving phone. (Can't remember what the app was called though.) So maybe you get that app, and wander around flicking your Droid until you get a 'hit' :)

I guess the real world, non-tech equivalent would be to walk around shouting "be my friend, be my friend" :)

Why don't you guys sign up for that service that shows where you are on the maps, maybe create a group name and have common prefix or something. That way when you check the map, and fellow DROID member is near, you can fire off a, "DROOOIIIIIIDDDDD"...the tech equivalent of throwin' up a gang sign.

:p

Ps. - VW enthusiasts do the same by flashing a "V" hand signal...just lettin you guys know you wouldn't be the only ones.

;)

Even better, maybe someone can write an app that auto starts the "DROOOOIIIIIDDD" sound when (2) DROIDs are in close proximity.

Pretty funny. Could be like the radar echo: "DRIOOOOD... drooooid" getting faster and faster as you get closer. Angels and hallelujahs when you join as one :)

You just have to be careful...you know what happens when too many DROIDs come assemble in one place:
