I checked my credit card account on Chase, like I do every evening, and found that I have 10 mysterious transactions from PayPal iTunesStore totaling $450. I did talk with Paypal and they said that the transactions weren't coming directly from them. It was from a 3rd party source. It all occurred this morning to early afternoon. I checked my iTunes account to see if it was compromised and there have been 0 purchases since May 2009 (I obviously don't use iTunes for purchasing music). Where are these transactions coming from then? I doubt that anyone hacked into my Paypal account because my password is very complicated.

*sighs* Have to talk with the bank tomorrow to try to get everything resolved. Damn Apple targeting Android users to steal from.

Has anyone else ever been in a similar situation?

I doubt Apple themselves is robbing you.

Oh I know. It's just fun to add some drama. :p

I know about that previous situation with the developers. In this case though... there has been absolutely nothing on my iTunes account that indicate any transactions. These ones I found seem to be in some mysterious location or perhaps the "iTunesStore" part of the label is supposed to be misleading. What I find odd is that all of the 10 transactions are between $40-$50 each.

The only time my credit card was ever compromised was with Apple. I just happened to check my bank account and noticed a $1 charge from Apple; like I would ever give them money. Called the bank, charge was reversed and a new card was issued.

I know it was just some jack ass that copied my number at a restaurant, still makes me hate Apple that much more.

Hmm... interesting. I was just at a restaurant last night. Hmm... but that wouldn't explain why it was going through Paypal and not straight from my card. Unless... that is how it shows up...

slightly off;
i went to buy a couple apps from the market and my debit card got blocked.
called the bank and they said that they have blocked anything that goes to great brittian, france, etc. because of to many frauds there.
checked the app. locations internet site via my little firefox add on and sure enough they were out of those areas. (doubt there is an issue with the app provider themselves, just the location they are out of is being blocked).

talked to a buddy of mine about someone who had swiped his debit card info. before and sure enough it was used in france....

It's very easy to copy credit/debit cards these days. A friend who was a waiter once told me when they charge your card, it's possible to store the number on the computer temporarily and then swipe a blank card and transfer whatever over to it and have a copy of your card.

I dunno how far it's true, but it certainly doesn't seem too frivolous.

Actually that's pretty easy. And further more, thieves don't even need to SEE your card to steal it's info now.

You check your credit card every single night?

I personally check my cards/accounts at least once weekly.
