All I keep seeing is threads getting started about everything thats wrong with the Captivate. Can we get a thread that has some good? I think the people that are looking at buying this phone dont need to get scared off after looking here.

Coming from a Blackberry, this phone has so much more to offer if you would like a phone you can play around with and tinker on. The screen is amazing, I love watching videos with this thing. I personally am not having any issues with the gps, it may take longer then other phones but this is the first phone Ive had with gps so I have nothing to compare it to. Lag issue? It dose seem to lag on a screen or two every now and again but its a cell phone not a super computer. The battery life is really good too, it would probably be better if I set the thing down and stopped messing with it. What dose everyone else think of this phone? Lets get some of the good!

Mods if you fell this thread dosent need to be here please move or delete, thanks!

I came over to the Captivate from a Blackberry. I loved my Blackberry. I played with my friend's iPhone and said I didn't see myself ever having a touch screen phone. Then the Captivate came out. My friend swapped his iPhone for the Captivate and as soon as I used it I knew I had to have one! I absolutely love my Captivate! Yeah, so the GPS isn't quite up to snuff and MMS is finicky but the fix is coming. The screen out does any other phone I've seen. The feel of the phone just screams fineness!

One thing I have learned a long time ago is people who are generally happy don't have much to complain about regarding their product. The amount of forums on here and the web complaining about the device or so repetitive over a few issues. GPS, Battery for some, etc... So with anything you will always see more negative. But the important thing to weigh in on is that most phones forums have tons of different issues that probably won't get fixed. I love my captivate!! I love how I can change everything about it depending on whats important to me at the moment. The shortfalls for me are far less than ANY other phone I have owned. We demand perfection, and that simply won't ever happen.

The captivate is an awesome phone. Everyone I have shown it to, that was looking for a new phone, has purchased it form themselves as well. They thank me b/c they love it as well. Only complaint I hear from them every now and then, has to do with some global positioning system... I don't know LOL :)

Once you break in the battery then no complains about the battery life either. Which is rumored to be improved with the mystery update from samsung and I think I read somewhere that Froyo increases battery life as well. If this is true then we get 2 updates that will help increase battery life.

IMO excellent phone, +1 to samsung :)

What MMS problems are you having?

sending mms pictures is annoying at times , i think you have to set the size to 100 kb or else you wont be able to send . I had some trouble sending some pictures with an full 3g connection, until i lowered the size to mms to 100kb. Would love to know if i am doing something wrong trying to send mms messages

Do not you think if there was anything good about this phone, those threads you want would have been in abundance here? :) jk

As with everything, if a device works fine people just quietly enjoy it. If something is not functioning as expected, people go online in search of information and leave traces of negativity in the forums.

We would not want this forum get flooded with threads like "I made a call today and it worked beautifully", "I snapped a pic today and it looked better than my DSLR", "I installed Angry Birds today and it looked better than on my old iP4", "I really enjoy visual voicemail feature of Google Voice", "I called Samsung HQ today to thank them for this excellent phone, and saved a bunch of money on the seamless international call via GVoice", "I bumped into an iPhone carrying friend today, our phones collided, mine came out the victor", "I scored some points with my GF last night by showing her Google Sky on our outdoor trip", etc, etc.

I'm very happy with my Captivate.

The real killer app is Swype... :)

As I learn all the little tips and tricks that are on their web site, the faster I get and the more I enjoy it. I'm very impressed with it's broad based functionality, there is a lot that is incorporated into it.

I'm finding the 4.0" display a sweet spot, between the 3.5" and 4.3" displays of my iPhone 4 and Droid X. And although it's not quite as crisp and clear as the iPhones display, I prefer it's color balance and even luminosity.

Of the three current smartphones in my rotation, the Captivate has the best phone, something that is important to me.

The overall size is ideal and I'm enjoying good battery life considering how much I use it.

At the end of the day I find that I use my Captivate far more than either the X or the iP4.
