12/3/09 - Droid Vehicle Mount back on VZW site

I called a local store yesterday to see if they had any of the home docks. They didn't, but the guy offered to call me after they got their daily shipment. He called me later and said they didn't get any in, but offered to order one for me. Said it should probably get to me Friday.

I'm going to get the car mount eventually. Hopefully the initial rush will die down and stock will build back up.

Odd side question regarding the vehicle mount: does the suction cup mount to plastic surfaces as well as glass (windshield)? I would prefer to mount my phone to the side wall of my center console so that it is obscured from outside view, and closer to the charger and auxiliary input for my stereo. The followup question would be whether or not the mount stem swivels to allow a sidewall connection to still put the phone's screen in the driver's view?

Does anyone know if you can return it to a local Verizon store if you order it online? I'm not 100% sure that I can mount it in a decent place in my car. If it doesn't work out I would want to return it and go with another option, but I know I'll be too lazy to actually ship it back. Plus shipping it back will probably cost me half of the actual price.

I tried using it on the dashboard but didnt work, also the mount does come with a sticky pad which i heard is really strong but i will never do that to my car.

Don't see why, but i remember reading something on the website that all verzion stores can accept returns from online orders depending on the item.

I don't know about returning it to a store, but anything I have ever bought from Verizon online came with a prepaid return shipping label. If you're not happy with it, just put it back in the box, stick the label on it, and drop it in the nearest FedEx drop box. Any box they ship this in should fit in a FedEx drop box.

If course I ordered mine today, just BEFORE finding out that the Motorola packaged ones are available at Best Buy. I'll stop and take a look at pricing tomorrow. I may be returning mine to Verizon unopened.

considering the motorola website says it comes with the car charger, you could b*tch to verizon about it and say you'll just return it and get it from best buy. Bet they're doing it just to milk you for money, as if paying more for service isn't enough.

I have plenty of chargers, and don't want to pay more for a bundle that includes something I don't need. I'm not saying that Verizon intentionally did anything to save me money, but it did save me money nonetheless.
