Innotraveler Car Kit For use with HTC EVO 4G

CRCG17HEV4-2.jpg

The product page has been updated, and picture posted. It seems like the dock is now going to be vertically mounted only.

Seidio representatives had said before in another thread that they had engineering difficulties getting the dock to hold the Evo horizontally because the Evo's USB port is on the bottom of the device.

i bet it'll work horizontally, but they must've experienced some issues in testing to make them say "securely holds your HTC EVO 4G vertically."

"in development?!?!" how i got time for that? i was looking forward to this cuz i have my evo wrapped in an innocase now, and don't need a car kit where i would need to strip it off.

guys....standard AMPS mounting on the back. Buy a tilt swivel from proclip, bracketron, panavise or whoever and you can rotate all you want. Can't imagine with the snug fit and the usb connection that the phone would fall out.

Personally, I think the phone's screen is big enough that I don't need landsacape for gps.

Also, wait for the HTC one and you have to use a naked phone. At least the HTC allows for their innocase case.

So the ball swivel mount isn't enough to figure that out?

Also it has standard AMPS mounting holes so you can use it with dash mounts from proclip, panavise and such.

With the ability to use your phone in a thinner case this is easily the best value in a charging dock. It's hands down more versatile than the official and cheaper to boot.

Only thing I don't like is that the microUSB port is on the holder for the phone, not on the base. Otherwise, this one might have made me return or sell the OEM.

I received my Seidio Innotraveler Car Kit last week and used it over the weekend for a long road trip. I ran into 2 significant issues: first, the way the EVO sits in the car kit, the microphone of the EVO is completely blocked. I couldn't get a single voice recognition attempt to be recognized by the phone until I took it out of the car kit. Second, despite it being 42 degrees outside and driving at night (no sun), after having it in the car kit for about 3 hours, the EVO LED started flashing red / green, which is the "overheat" warning for the battery. The batteryminder app reported the temperature of the battery at 119.7 degrees F. I can't imagine what will happen using it in the middle of summer. The blocking of the microphone is a real deal breaker for me.
