Suffice to say, I told the guy he can keep his phone then because I'm not paying $70 more.

I walked out.

Guess I'll just wait until my Amazon order arrives...it says ETA is September 13th, even with next-day air

Sorry for your bad experience at Best Buy. He should have price matched Verizon at least... mine did. I am waiting for mine from Amazon also. I just have this one as a temporary thing to play with until the one from Amazon comes. I'll just return this one to Best Buy with receipt for full refund.

Yep, they usually price match- Heck the two BB's where I live will match Walmart prices for phones. Then again, that might only be if you are getting a contract and not paying full price... I recall a BB dude saying their prices were higher due to the agreement of being their own channel for VZW phones. They get theirs seperate from VZW purchasing.

The wiggle room kicks in with deals when applying one or two year contracts.

He wanted $599.99; I asked if he would price match online retailers like Amazon for $529.99, he said no.

I said, okay, fine, what about Verizon across the street for $579.99? He said no. I said okay, then you can keep your phone, and walked out.

I have ordered one on Amazon, but may go back tonight when the shift changes and see if I can't get them to at least price match Verizon.

Worst-case, I can pick one up now and decide if I like it for sure, and return it with receipt (they're at least good about this in my experience) when my one from Amazon arrives.

Could be due to new phone- sell it to a person for full price and no contract, or sell to someone and get two year contract. Still, pretty sure the full price is due to a channel agreement with VZW.

I went into best buy this morning with the highest hopes one of the reps had told me yesterday that I could go in and he would make sure I left with a phone but he said I had to be there when they opened or they might run out. I get there and they say he called in and someone else is on there way to cover but no one else can help me so I wait thirty min until a girl in a really pissy mood comes and tells me she is not sure if they are ever going to carry that phone and that if they will they don't have it yet. She shrugged her shoulders and starts walking away. So I show her there website on my Droid x that's says now available in store and ask if she could please help me find one maybe in another store. All the while being very polite I work in retail I know anger gets you nowhere at least not with me. She said look I don't have the phone in and there is no point looking for one and walks away on my way out I tell the manager who asks if I got everything sorted out and if I was happy that I wouldn't be coming back and that the girl should fix her attitude. He laughs and says well geeze she had to come in an hour early. I'm thinking seriously I was pissed when I thought she came in on her day off but one hour early. Went to Verizon and got it for 149 with ne2 discount and the manager there who I was telling about my experience at best buy said well sorry your having a bad day I think you'll leave here happy hooks me up with a case for 15 instead of 29 and no Mir and the 150 was billed to my account. Love it. Oh and I reccomend the shell holster combo very nice. Sorry for the rant LOL.

Yeah....up until today I've usually had outstanding experiences at my local Best Buy. Now I'm beginning to see what so many others have experienced and it kind of sucks.

Maybe I can try to finagle a similar benefit from my local Verizon store too?
