Help cracked my screen, need to backup

Hey everyone, I need some help here. I cracked the screen on my incredible and hope to be getting a replacement soon.

Is there a way that I can take a backup of the phone without seeing the screen? I can see some parts of the screen, but not all.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Waiting to get my phone back too, I could see my screen. I should get it back today. Are you rooted? Maybe someone can list all the keypresses for you (I'll do it if I get my phone today) to do a nandroid backup blind. Certainly would be an interesting adventure.

well root then. then do a nandroid backup. to root all u need is unrevoked and plugging your phone into your comp (no screen needed), if i remember.

I just tried this. I got usb debugging working and even loaded the hboot drivers...all blind.

Anyway, unrevoked3 is not working. I read somewhere that it is not yet compatible with 2.2. Guess I may have to wait unless anybody has other suggestions.

Thanks,
Jaime

Okay, I'm rooted now. Just need to figure a way to do the nandroid backup blind.

I should be getting my phone tomorrow and will root then help you get through it. If not next week, I dont have internet at my new place yet so I cant do it over the weekend.

Ok so I just noticed that unrEVOked still hasnt fixed all the bugs for the 2.2 one-click root process. How did you do it? Let me know and I'll get that done ASAP then walk you through it.

This is going to be a new feat in Android hacking/rooting

no idea how to get a link for that through IRC. If you want to get me the link, or if somebody else can I'd like to root today.

What channel do I need to go into?

EDIT: DeepFriedButter, hit me up on twitter (@elpeterson) if you want to make this convo go a little bit faster outside of the forums

Sorry no twitter. But I can try to help you out.

Go here: freenode Web IRC (qwebirc)

input this channel: #unrevokedtest

Choose a nickname and you're set.

unfriggin believeable. HTC, well PCD, messed up my repair AGAIN. Sending it back over the weekend. But I think I can still help you do the blind backup. Are you able to get into the recovery screen blind?

I basically just need to get to the nandroid backup screen from a fresh battery pull. I know I need to do vol down and power but after that, I'm at a loss. It's not like the optical track pad gives you any real way to gauge how many "steps" it's taken like you could with the vol down button. Not sure if I can browse the nandroid screen (never used) with the vol button.

Just IMd you on AIM (fourage16)

No idea how to get on to my AIM account, lost hte password and it wont send me it.

Yeah unfortunately you need the trackball to actually select anything.

I just realized something, doing vol down + power only gets you to the stock recovery screen...not the clockworkmod recovery where you can do a backup.

This is going to be trickier than i thought

EDIT: I lied

Here is what I got:
-Vol Down + Power - hold for 10 seconds
-Wait another 10 seconds after letting go of Vol/Pwr for it to do its thing
-Vol Down once
-Pwr once, phone will vibrate.
-Wait 10 seconds
-Vol Down 5 times

At this point you are on "-backup and restore" in clockworkmod recovery. I cannot select it because my trackball is not working. If someone can pick this up from here you will be good to go.

I'll have my phone back by Wednesday I think so I can continue then.

Thanks! I'll give it a try and see where it goes. My phone should be here within the hour...

just thought of something...what about TV out?

good point haha, do you already have the cable??

EDIT: actually, i dont know. im not sure it works like a laptop + monitor where you just put the screen to something else. i dont know if it would work while in recovery... but you could download titanium backup or something like that and run it that way.

That's true. The idea popped up because I saw this video: YouTube - NANDROID BACKUP DROID INCREDIBLE

I guess I'll have to wait until my new phone gets here and just do them side by side.
