[RUMORED] GPS Fix Sept 18th!!!

Thats good news for Tmob people! I hope the reply he supposedly received from tmob reps was true.
Now should we add a month to that date for AT&T to give it sufficient time to haul its a$$? Or is it one-two weeks (the time between SGS releases on Tmob and ATT)?

Other than distributing it OTA I don't think AT&T is going to touch any code in it so hopefully it will be sooner than later.

hey no time for personal attacks man! :) If all that Tmob poster said is true, it is really good news! Rejoice!
And to answer your question, there is no perfection in this world, no one and nothing is absolutely perfect. If one were not striving to be perfect what would be the meaning of life?

I'm having a rough time finding an offense. Every post in here appears to be clean and friendly to me.

The offence has been moderated out. Mods are doing a really great job here.

Come to think of it, with the offensive thing edited out, the post by LordHumongouz sounds like a legitimate question, and that is why you answered it I guess :) When intact prior the edit, the stuff you see left now was more of a sarcastic remark.

Glad to hear it. I'm new to the forums and Android myself. Loving my Captivate and can't wait to get the GPS fix. I came from a 1st Gen iPhone that I thought was amazing at the time. This things blows it out of the water. Never going back to the iPhone.

I have my fingers crossed for September 18th though, can't wait to get a working GPS :)

Glad to hear you are enjoying your Captivate and your freedom. But to Apple's defense, you should not compare 2010 Captivate to that old iP1. :)

You're right. Luckily I had friends that had purchased a 3G and a 3GS. I think Apple makes great consumer products, but I honestly felt to limited with what I could do. I feel that with Android I have had a whole new world of possibilities opened to me.

I agree that the mods are doing a good job. I also think there seem to be quite a few jerks and whiners on the forum keeping the mods busy. Well, we all need to whine once in a while, but we should remain civil.

I suppose having such a glaring problem prompts a lot of emotional reactions.

Thanks MODS!

You tell me! I lost my temper here a number of times. Every time I ride the elevator to office and see the freaking Captivate news I jump up in joy before I realize it is not an announcement of a true GPS fix, and it is even a different Captivate (Captivate Network).

is it me or does AT&T treat the Captivate like a red headed step child? No banners about it.....stuck in the corner....I've been to every AT&T in the San Antonio area and can't find any screen protectors....I even overheard an AT&T salesperson tell a customer when they ask about the Captivate that Samsung doesn't make a good phone and they should by an IPhone.......I couldn't keep my mouth shut....when I got through.....she bought the Captivate.,

The ones here are pretty neutral between the Captivate and the iPhone. The store my sister went to was actually pushing it pretty hard.

The AT&T stores here in Georgia (Home of AT&T Wireless headquarters) actually seem pretty proud of the device. They have it on the front row next to the iPhone 4 and Blackberry Torch and always made sure to have plenty of screen protectors and cases ready to purchase right under the display.

They do have a bunch of pictures of the iPhone 4 around and it's own little section in the corner, but you have to understand how much that phone has cost them. That contract plus the profit sharing cost with Apple has more than warranted it's own section. They live under the reality of losing the exclusivity to the iPhone next year and they need to wring every last penny out of it they can.

I have a strange feeling that AT&T losing exclusivity may be the best thing in the world for those of us that fall on the Android side of the fence. AT&T will be much more generous with manufactures of Android phones. Those same manufacturers who are going to see their exclusive iPhone free environment with Verizon go the way of the dodo. Next year should be an amazing year for AT&T and Android.

Today I couldn't get my tomtom to find an address at work at all cause the signal was lost to it. I used maps on my captivate just to get a turn by turn on how to get to the address and after I got it for the hell of it I hit navigate. Believe it or not on a day so cloudy the regular GPS didn't ever get a fix but my phone actually worked turn by turn to the house. This never worked before at all for me even on a nice sunny day. Im going to try to use it Moore tomorrow and im wondering if something has been fixed.without us knowing about it. Just wanted to share my GPS expierance today.

God tell me about it dude, I went to 3 different AT&T stores in San Antonio before one finally had the black body glove case I wanted in stock. The guy said they seem to be getting really low on them, don't suppliers usually raise the amount of product with demand? Not AT&T obviously...

Seems to me this thread's title is inaccurate or at best misleading. This is the AT&T Captivate board, and there is no word whatsoever that AT&T is going to push out a GPS on Sept 18th. In fact, there's no word on AT&T pushing out the update in Sept at all, or any word on when they might. All we know is Samsung will release the fix sometime in Sept... but it'll be up to the carriers to then distribute it on their network. AT&T has been silent on this.
