There is an existing thread if you are running the 2.1 version. If you have moved up to Froyo (2.2) then there is no method currently known to overclock the X.
with the current methods of custom recovery, overclocking will not be included in roms. Since we still cant install custom kernels there will have to be a manual method developed. Since the most anyone I know of got out of the 2.1 kernel was 1.2 and most couldn't go past 1.15, is it really worth it?

Yes it's worth it, my rooted, overclocked (1.15Ghz at a lower voltage) version of 2.1 is still quicker and gets better scores than my rooted deodexed 2.2.
Can someone explain the point of benchmarks to me? I mean, the real point. Honestly, if you can use the phone, it feels snappy, who gives a rat's ass what your Quadrant score is.
It's not like we're using the phones for quantum computing. If it does what I need to, than I'm all for it.

It isn't just the score that I pay attention to, it's the frame rates in the different parts of the test also. In every section the frame rate is higher with my OC 2.1 than it is on 2.2. I play a lot of games on my X so a higher frame rate is nice. Here's an example: the last part of the test, with the DNA like chain, I get results of 16-18 fps on 2.2, with my OC 2.1 it was between 18-20 fps.
