Win XP does not see phone after CM6 mod

Today I flashed my first mod, to CM6 9/10 nightly.

The flash worked great (used ROM Manager....so easy).

But my Win XP PC does not see the phone. I have USB DeBugging on. When I plug the phone into the USB cable, the PC gives three dull tones. Not the normal tones. If I unplug, I get the normal unplug tone.

This is also probably why I cannot get wired tether to work. I have been using PDA Net on 2.1, but it forces close on 2.2. I also tried it with wired tether on, but again, PC not seeing the phone.

Do I need a new driver?

I'm not on WinXP, but i would try uninstalling pdanet, then rebooting your computer, and seeing if it will detect. In cm6 you shouldn't need to use pdanet. Just go to settings > wireless and networks > tethering and enable it. I've seen people having problems with their phone being recognized, but all i've seen have been resolved by disconnecting the phone, rebooting the computer and phone, and reconnecting. Perhaps though your pdanet drivers are causing some issue. I'm on Win7 and haven't had any problem having my phone be recognized.

Thanks for the reply...I uninstalled PDA Net, rebooted, re-connected the phone via USB, but still got the three "dull" tones from XP. I'll snoop around in the XP settings to see if the problem is there, while waiting for some more reply's.

UPDATE: I was trying different things and under settings, I unmounted then remounted my SD Card. That seemed to fix the problem at first. I got the normal tones on the PC and saw the drive icon under My Computer.

But when I tried to do USB Tethering, I lost the drive indicator again. I tried the un/re mount thing and that didn't help.

So back to square one.
