Root which one is full root?

i have a question which one of these 2 ways is full root? do i have to do both or just one is ok? i really appreciate for your help!!

It depends if your running 2.1 or 2.2.

If you have Android 2.1 use the first method you listed

or

if your on Android 2.2, use the second one you listed.

After you root, yes. You will be able to flash different ROMs and kernels as you please.

i have android 2,2 but 1st method looks much easier than 2nd method as i listed...
thank you for ur time and help! just want to make sure i am doing rite thing i dont want anything messed up!!!

The second link reverts your phone back to 2.1, then roots it with the same method as the first link.

If you follow the instructions as listed, you should have no problems whatsoever. If you need any help you can just ask and there will most likely be a few of us around to help you out. Currently, there are no other root methods available but I'm sure sooner than later someone will release a 1-click root for our EVOs. Good luck

I strongly strongly strongly suggest that you read up on the whole rooting process a bit. It may help you understand a little better what you are getting yourself into.

and what is good ROM for longer battery
and doesnt matter what baseband version do i have? or something like that? cuz i got evo 3 days ago,,, is just matter which android version i have rite?

The leaked 2.2 ota 3.28 comes with the new HTC kernal. Its supposed to have great battery life and I can vouch for it. Its the one fresh released

yea you can, it helps to read through the written tutorial before watching the videos though so you have an idea. Its really not that hard just follow step by step and you have no problems

The UnrEVOked site has pulled 3.2 pending bug fixes. You can still get it under the table, but if you choose to go that route, go in with your eyes open, as the devs that wrote it do not feel it is ready for prime time.

The video will work. It will require more time and effort on your part, and I would recommend some reading and study time on your part before you start. Make sure you download everything, install the elements that need to be installed, place other files where they belong, and know in advance where everything you need is located on your hard drive.

I'm not sure I understand your question. Once you have fully rooted your phone, which means unlocking nand and flashing a recovery image, you can then create a complete backup image of your phone via Nandroid backup.

Obtain root access
Flash a recovery image
Make a nandroid backup
Flash a ROM

You want to do it in that order. Is that what you mean?

i meant this : Download this PC36IMG.zip || Mirror(This is the same as running an RUU, so it will delete all of your user data when we use it later in the guide, so backup everything you want to save on your phone first)
like my contacts and all that .. can i back it up b4?
that 1st method is much easier then 2nd ;(

If you use Google contacts and Gmail, those are already backed up in the cloud and will resync when you run setup again.

For apps, settings, texts, call logs, non-Google contacts, etc, check out MyBackup Pro from the market. For four bucks, it'll back up most everything else, although it doesn't work well with widgets and protected apps. Once you're rooted, it will offer you additional functionality.

If they are Google contacts:
Menu>Settings>Accounts & sync>Google>Sync contacts>Sync now
