Root Wipe Battery Stats

If, after you flash a ROM and run it, it seems as if the battery indicator isn't tracking battery usage to what you think they should be (i.e., your battery normally lasts 20 hours, but now it's been unplugged for four hours and says 50%), it can be very helpful.

Plug in and charge to 100%. While it is still plugged in, restart the phone in recovery and wipe battery stats. Do not wipe anything else. Restart the phone and, when it is done, unplug and use it as long as you can.

If battery usage seems reasonable, there is probably no reason to wipe battery stats.

Any advantage to using the "wipe battery stats" in Amons recovery?

It's a step in calibrating your battery to your device, so that the battery meter can be a bit more accurate.

There are mixed opinions among technical folks as to how to go about the other steps; whether to drain the battery as far down as possible first, then wipe stats, or wipe stats following a full charge.

ROMs need to be flashed with plenty of battery charge, so if you want to do the battery stats wipe along with draining the battery, be sure to do that after your ROM is flashed, installed and tweaked to your liking.
