Root good god, why are clockwork recoveries so huge?

Amon backups are around 180 megs. I was wondering why the hell it was taking so long to transfer the clockwork recovery to my computer...its 750 megs! For the backup of the same phone state as the 180 meg one!

Dang. Fa Realz?
I stick with Amon... I like it better and seems to work better with certain kernals etc...from what ive read.

But 750 is just outrageous.

I agree 750mb is just.... not practical lol
If with 180mb you can make an entire system image, why use more space?

If you have apps installed on your SD card, wouldn't you want to NAND +ext?

mine are comparable. Make sure you are comparing apples to apples as much as you can. Are the nandroids done back to back (ensuring no major changes to your phone in between)? Are you backing up the SD ext partition on RA?

ext partition
system.img
data.img
cache.img

These should all be exactly the same size if you took the nandroids one after the other, and these should be the bulk of your nandroid. Both my nandroids are around 400mb.

CW includes recovery.img (5mb) and .android_secure.img which is 19mb on mine. That's the only overage compared to my RA.

did not back up sd ext on RA but that would not explain the difference...the SD ext definitely is the backup for the apps2sd?

yeah apps are saved to the partition.

why don't you copy/paste your nandroid files for each, so we can see what file is causing the big difference. Here are mine. Note the backups are a few days apart, so the values don't line up exactly, esp. cache. But they are close.
