Isee a lot of folks raving about UD 8, but with most of them, 8 is their first UD ROM. I'm still on 7 and wondered if anyone has noticed a huge difference between 7 & 8.
Last I looked the changelog was still not up, but it seems few actual features have changed, and it's more of a theme change.
Anyone try both?

Big difference in 7 and 8. Way more customization options. Well worth the upgrade!

I've only seen a handful in here admit this was their first ROM. This in my personal experience is about the 6-7th ROM I've tried and it has been my favorite. Every other one got extremely slow to the point of angering me (LfY 1.5 being the biggest slowdown since intial install). I do appreciate all the work people put into their ROM's, just wish they would work for long periods of time without them seemingly slowing to a crawl.

As for the changes, I'm not sure. Going on a week with this ROM and its still as fast as the day I installed.

Well so far first impressions are pretty good. Still getting used to the black notification bar and haven't decided if I like it or not. One thing I don't like is all the red highlights, for instance selecting something in a menu or the red loading circle. I'd prefer to change these back to the nice androidy green. Is there anyway to do that? And possibly take off the black notification bar and/or the black around popup menus (no idea what there actually called but they pop up with an description and ok), everything is just too black and it starts blending into every element. Not enough color contrast

I went from 7 to 8 and i didn't notice much of a difference. I had 7 for like 3 days, and have been on 8 for the last week or so. And so far i have seen no reason to switch back to any other rom yet. The one difference i noticed between UD8 and Cyano6 was cyano seemed to have alot more led customizations to set. And i also like the customizable power strip on cyano6.

Thanks, that was what I was looking for. I'm holding off on this one. Been through the BD forum and there are still some issues that haven't been addressed by BD himself yet. He's usually right on top of things, popping out fixes only a day or two after they're reported. But I think he has his hands full now that he's doing ROMs for other models.
-I'm also not a very big fan of red, or anything gaudy or flashy.

I meant UD ROM. I just wanted to know if the common "Smooth as silk" consensus was the same for UD7.

Previously, I had sworn off all custom ROMs and had been running the official FRG22D ROM. Then I tried this one.

My God, it is great. So fast, clean. The font is insane and looks very sophisticated. Not to mention, I can change it if I want to.

I love this ROM and I plan on keeping it until the next release. It is more responsive, looks better...wow. That's all I can say.

Didn't like Simply Stunning, CM6 had bugs and frivolous options that I didn't care about that I could change. This keeps the crap to the side and lets you customize the real stuff like the different launchers and app install locations. Love it.

Yes! Yes!! YES!!!

Finally! I ROM that I simply just install, restore my apps, and it runs and looks PERFECT!!! No theme needed (IMO), and the stock 800MHz kernel is faster than the LFY1.5 running at 1.2GHz. I am ecstatic with this ROM. BRAVO!!!

It's been a week and I am STILL totally impressed with this ROM. "THEE" best ROM to date ... from any developer. Bar none.

I couldn't get a Chevy 1.2 to work on this rom, but a Slayher 1.2 DOES work, very well. I still wonder if anyone else has tried a Slayher kernal and found if "interactive" works any better for battery life than "on demand".

Ive only had LFY (1.5) which was my first rom.. it came with a suggested dl of slayers kernels.

Is their a particular kernel that works well with UD8? or is it to each his/her own?

chevy's ? slayhers?

Well, I really want to like this ROM since loading it. But, everytime I try to update LP, it's always unsuccessful. I've tried clearing data/cache from the Market, rebooting and fixing permissions, but nothing works. Any thoughts? I'm starting to think it's because I didn't wipe since coming from LFY 1.6.

just a thought, i would delete lp reboot phone and go into the ud steeings and install lp from there.

quite the opposite most people have found that interactive has about the same battery life as performance on any rom.

Yep, didn't realize that UD had included LP in the settings. I wasn't able to uninstall it (did he move it to /system?), but when I hit install LP from his settings, it worked. I have to redo my widgets, but I'm updated to the latest release.
