Help How do I stop the VZW web page and software prompt that comes up when I plug into my comp?

Since I upgraded to 2.2 I get a prompt to install software and the VZW web page in automatically launched every time I plug my phone into my computer. I read before my upgrade that this would happen once and then go away after it was declined once but mine seems to be persistent. Anyone have any ideas? I'd really rather not install their unnecessary software.

You have to root to be able to keep this from happening. If you are, there are some threads out there showing you how to eradicate this and other VZW/HTC bloatware...

Either that or don't plug it into your computer! :->

You do not have to be rooted to turn this off:

Dial ##7764726
Hit Call
Type Password is 000000
Hit Feature Settings
Choose CD ROM
Click Disable
Hit menu, commit modifications (it will say no item changed)

When I tried this, mine was already disabled, but I did it anyway, and I still get the CD popup. So I went in and enabled it, then went back and disabled it again after reboots in-between, but the CD popup still happens. It's not a big deal since I move files between my PC and phone wirelessly most of the time anyway, just frustrating!

You unchecked it and you are still getting 3 drives when you connect to the PC? That's odd...

There are supposed to be two, internal and SD. The third one (new verizon one) was added with 2.2 but that is the proper way to turn it off.

Yes, always had two before 2.2 and the Verizon "virtual CD" drive started popping up after the upgrade, and still does after trying the fix.

I am trying to avoid a factory reset as I dread getting the phone back where it is now, it took months of tweaking to get here.

Wow, that is so strange. This is the first I have seen of that not working.

Only other way is to root the phone :(
